READY TO SAY GOODBYE TO LAUNDROMATS?

This is seriously a good item to know the existence of.

Maybe you don't have a washing machine at home, maybe you won't have one when/if you move to another place, or maybe you know someone who doesn't have one?

What if I told you... that the laundromat struggles - going to a public laundromat somewhere together with a bunch of clothes, and then all that waiting for the clothes to finish - could be avoided? I'm not talking about buying a whole, brand new washing machine and installing it into your home.

No...

I am talking about THIS!

This ugly thing is a portable washing machine.

Ever heard of one? I hadn't, and I sure didn't expect there to be any. However, they exist indeed!

They come in various types and with various functions and qualities. The one I have at home has wheels underneath it so that you can simply roll it around and transport it wherever needed. There are tubes so that you can connect it to the sink, and then basically it works just like a normal washing machine.

Of course these things cost money, so buying one of these would be a purchase of investment (as long as it doesn't break already after a few washings... then I suppose that wasn't quite worth the money).

Either way, here's some possible pros and cons for the considering:

PROS

Won't have to go to the laundromat (transport money + time win!)
Won't have to wait for the washings to finish, can go and do something else in the meantime (time win!)
Can freely wash however much you like
Can skip any possible awkwardness fumbling around with your stuff in public

CONS

 Rather expensive
Can require a bit of work to install when using
May have to keep watch every now and then to make sure everything is working fine and water
doesn't splash all over the place
Might have a shorter life-span compared to a real washing machine and might have function-struggles
every now and then
Might, depending on the quality, not be as efficient and durable as a real washing machine

Alternatively, upon a small, quick research I found this:

This is also a portable washing machine, but this one you operate by hand. This is highly suitable for those wanting to choose greener alternatives, are short on money (this one only costs 27.00$) or space at home, or want to exercise while doing laundry!

Now, the environment friendliest way to go would be the good old fashioned hand-washing, even though that is an option that is mostly opted out in today's modern world. One thing we all can do however is skip the dryer and leave it all to air dry instead. There are clotheslines and portable and foldable drying racks that you can buy that you can effectively hang up your newly washed stuff on, or you could hang them on the rod by your shower curtains or anywhere else suitable.

The textile industry and our laundry habits are huge environment villains. Keep this in mind, and proceed with thought.

Worthy mentions for lessening your environmental impact:

🌎  As mentioned, avoid using the dryer
🌎  Avoid doing too much laundry and too often, particularly where unnecessary
🌎  Actually, avoid buying too many new items whatsoever
🌎  Buy eco-friendly laundry detergent, or maybe make your own
🌎  Submit to the old fashioned way and hand-wash (there are some fun and creative ways to do this)
