objective ways to pick winners

Since the whole idea is literally "who wore it best?" it's hard to really avoid it being subjective.
The only changes really will be based on who's on the team atm.

I'd also like to explain how WWIB voting works a bit for those who may have some concerns about fairness overall. Those voting don't know which outfit belongs to who, we just number the entries to make counting votes much easier. (The media hosting WWIB will keep that info saved somewhere as backup).
It's 100% based on the preferences of each member so yes, it's definitely subjective.
yeah i know
its so hard because there's always going to be differing opinions but my idea was mainly to bring awareness to this issue since ive always found difficulty understanding how the same outfits/players keep winning. if there was a way to diversify it, i would love that.

or maybe another idea is to have vp users vote instead. ik the team's function is to hold events and stuff, but should voting on WWIB be in the hands of the same group of ppl all the time??

tbh im not sure if that would be fair either; only for raffles
depends if the goal with the competition is to participate with a valid entry or to actually dress subjectively the best to a theme or with an item
oh thats an interesting take
i didnt think of that

so anyone has a fair chance of winning as long as they submit an entry? that would take away to subjectivity of it all, but i worry it's too similar to raffles.

honestly I feel there should be 2 separate category or something, as someone who don't really own much it sometimes feels pointless to try. I have noticed tho for contest etc that the more you have on the more a chance of winning. the people they pick tho honestly do deserve it they looks nice but it's also intimidating for people like me. just wish the contests feel more open for everyone to try? if that makes sense, like I know they are open for everyone to try but if your look is too minimalistic there is just 0 chance from what I seen.

We know the minimalist vs maxist outfits are a concern with many users, so in SMT we have discussed hosting WWIB's with more casual themes or item limitations
its also good to hear that there is conversation going around about that!
i like the idea of item limitations but not sure if theres a way to reinforce that or anything

more casual themes are good; like high fashion
but then again it depends on the rare items u use and other things

or- crazy idea i know- but if you're aware that max items is liked by the judges you should be using max items. i don't like max item outfits but thats what i make for comps because i know that's what wins.

yea no i completely get that
not sure if 2 separate comps in one would work out but there is for sure a clear advantage for ppl with larger wbs, and i just want more ways for other users to win!!

It is concerning that it's always the same, I agree. I wouldn't want to see that if I were participating in WWIB as well.
I'm not trying to put down your idea, but having vp users vote has issues with it as well.
Friends could be voting for friends, users voting for themselves. It could also make counting votes a real chore since we couldn't do a poll.

thats what i do, and im sure there are many others like us who have to subject to that certain style that isn't what we usually do either way so its just enforcing that same old aesthetic that keeps winning. i just want to make it a fair playing field.

Well I mean, I don't really think rarity and items are an issue with most competitions on VP. That's talking from the perspective of when I enter ET dress-up comps as well. You're almost always allowed to use other user's wd's, and you could ask someone with a ton of rares and a huge wd.
So really, even being new to VP, you could have all the items you need at disposal. How well you manage to use them is a whole other scenario though of course.

i don't really care if they're similar to raffles myself as there are winners picked in both and we don't have a say in it anyways. raffles at least makes it objective

thank you for understanding!
yes, its the most stressful way to conduct voting which is why i agree with you on that point. just wish we could come to terms as to which is the best way to choose winners...

i hate this lol.

if i want to play a raffle i'll play a raffle. dressup comps should be about skill dressing up.

i stick to my own wb, i am familiar with where items are. it would take EVEN longer for me to familiarize myself in someone else's wb just for entering comps.
im in like the awkward middle where i have enough items to make outfits with, but not the most rare items or eye-catching details. i also just dont style in a way that fits the type of fits that always win (re: same aesthetic that wins all the time). tired of having to stick to it!

i do agree that styling itself is different, and it depends on the person, ofc.

i agree with all of this

tbh most of the time i think what they rly base it on is how much they like you as a person, no matter how good ur outfit was or not
like i feel there's an unfairness going on

but also one idea could maybe be that everyone would send in their outfits, i'm thinking like a separate website, and it all is done anonymous so they can't see what user sent in what
THEN they (the team) do their own voting thing and vote according to the theme etc etc
for some reason i think that would make the winners for each comp more varied? if that makes sense
since they would have no ability of knowing which users it's from unless they're an expert at telling which outfit was made by which user
well actually it IS anonymous

when i voted for comps held by other teams, there were no users attached to the outfit, we would just copy and paste the ones we liked into our reply and ig someone from the team holding it would go in and count whoever had the most votes.

it's mainly the aesthetic (i want to say fantasy?) that continuously win dress up comps. rarely do "street fashion" fits win if that makes sense.
but it's easy to just check the thread tho ?? u can't rely on people doing an honest job when there's a thread to look at
That'd be a lot of work though, going through several pages to try and find certain people.
Idk, maybe I'm just lazy but that should be a deterrent for most if not all team members.
