I’m scared (TW rape, paranoia)

Okay so I’m going to a festival tomorrow. Will be there camping for the first time in my life. I’m quite socially anxious så soing this is a HUGE step for me, and I’m going with a friend(male) whon I trust very much. But I’m really scared.

I’m scared that some guy will try to hurt me, or rape me. Hopefully my friend will be woth me at most times, but when we sleep in seperate tents... I’m scared that someone will come into my tent and rape me, or drug me and try to rape me... or idk... can someone please ease my mind.

It doesn't happen very often, but if you’re very scared you can ask your friend to share a tent? He will probably let you sleep in the same tent as him if you’re telling him this

My boyfriend adviced me to do this, but I’m afraid he’ll think I’m silly or that I’m making a move on him :s

I think he will understand. You're at a festival with a lot of drunk people so it’s normal to feel a bit anxious. He also advised you to do it, so he obviously trusts you

So, I'm probably going overboard with safety tips that I've learned. the best advice I can give you is:
-Always watch what you're eating/drinking
-Explain your worries to your partner. If he's worth listening to or being with at all, he'll be understanding.
-Carry pepper spray, a knife, a noisemaker, or something similar.
-Use a buddy system.

Tips on punching, taught to me by a man who was in the army:
-Keep your wrist straight, punch fast and hard.
-Keep your thumb outside of your fingers, tucked just below them. Otherwise you can break it. Hit with your index and middle finger knuckles.
-Poking eyes makes someone defend their face, leaving the whole body open. Pulling on ears makes the head, neck, and body go with them.
-Even a small push to the dip near the bottom of the neck is enough to force anyone backwards.
-Once you have someone trying to defend any of these areas, go for the shins, stomach, and balls.
-Don't stop punching until you're safe (someone comes to help, you knock out the attacker, etc.)
-Don't try to play fair. You have been put in danger, and that means that all rules are out the window.

Have fun at the festival!

its highly unlikely to happen, so try not to worry too much.

but to give u some advice
you can use long tent pegs, a mallet, your keys, even a sharp pen or pencil as some sort of improvised weapon.  remember with tents theres not much sound u can really make without being heard,  so your voice is important.  people will respond to "help! fire! anybody! !"   better than just screaming as they might assume shouting is just from an accident or being drunk.

depending on the type of tent,  itll be a little awkward to get in and out of but you could consider having the entrances of u and urs friends tents facing/touching each other      or you could even manipulate them into one tent.  depends on the tent though

That’s a great idea, so it wouldn’t go unnoticed if someone tried to get in in either of our tents.

In all my nightmares I’ve had about being assaulted I can never scream, I’m scared this will happen sad

ask to sleep in his tent
he probably hasnt even thought about how unsafe it feels for you

or get a noisemaker ("överfallslarm" in swedish ? ) like someone else said,, it's not a weapon so it should be allowed

i have the same thing with screaming.   you could take something that makes noise with you,  perhaps an airhorn or a bicycle horn.  something bound to wake someone up and think  wtf
