Ad0xa rambling again

I do this now and then.
But.

I feel like a common misconception is that you need to be serious to be smart.
You need to have a big vocabulary and a very serious demeanor.

Or rude and cold. People who are not concerned with silly things like being nice or fun.
"If I'm a bitch, that's just bc they can't comprehend my intelligence" kind of.

This is not a new fucking revelation. It's super old and people have talked about it many times before. But that's what baffles me....
I feel like people still exist that think that assholes or super serious people are the only fucking common denominator in being intelligent or smart.

That you can't say cringy stuff or be a silly or super nice person. Especially not in the same sentence as saying something incredibly valid and smart.

It has almost become my own test for testing if people are smart or not. Like. If you think someone who is cringy or silly is automatically stupid, most likely, you are stupid. Or if you think someone can't have a very good argument or point just bc they spell horribly or used that one word wrong.... stupid.

I could draw it to smiley use too. But I think that's kinda mean to call someone stupid for just not liking smileys... that's more in the territory of personal preference, I guess... though I would be lying if I didn't admit that I think it's silly for people to react so strongly about smiley use.
To me it's kinda like not liking how someones voice sounds or how someone talks. You would probably not be like "could you please not talk like that? " but you can totally still find it super annoying and hard to take them seriously bc of it.
I know I hate when people use too many shortenings for words dat I feel lik m losin half of d cnction wile talkin on a phone.
And I've certainly been guilty of voicing that.... sorry.

Anyways. I... kinda lost my train of thought or why I wanted to say this. I hope you're all good!

Do you have any text thing you do  that people has said to you they don't like?

...................... also yeah I totally started thinking of it before when someone I like here was like "Dude. Smileys. Pls don't."  it just made me think of that topic again. And how I view other people.

But it's not the first time or the last time I'll read that XD

Now a day's I feel like I respect "silly" people more. Than when I was younger.

I've never bought in to the idea that you need to spell good... but.... surprise. That's bc I can't spell.
(google helps me spell now lol)

But I think I always thought that happy people or nice people were stupid. Like they didn't "get" the "real" world.
But it's not like that... they can totally "get it".... they just choose to be nice and sweet instead. I wasn't very smart in that way when I was younger.

omg this is like the booksmart movie when the girls realize the popular kids have good grades and time to party\socialize.

I feel like some of the "you need to be serious to be smart" is somewhat about some people being really smart but failing to understand other topics or cues, and that kinda becoming a stereotype for some type of academic smart. or something like that. and all the things about that only men could have careers for so long and that you had to be respected and that meant being like not joyful and fun, at least not during hours. (idk where I was going?)

On the smileys: I had this person on my soccer team that complained that I didn't use smileys in my fb messages back in 2015 or so, and "you sound so mad." like no. Now, I overuse smileys and forget how to convey emotions instead.

I feel like people think I'm pretty stupid since I used to be that "perfectly kind and shy girl." I wasn't super smart, but I wasn't stupid either lmao I wasn't that funny person either, like I was more the "vanishes into the background" person that would lend you anything if you just asked and used to offer if I had something.

ooh. I haven't seen that movie. Is it good?

YES omg. It's totally that!! It's totally how academic smooort people have been like "ooOOoo maths. " but not as much "OooOOo social cues. " XD ..... to dumb it down.
Not that maths aren't for smart people or that you're not smart by being good at it.... but ya know.

I said that to my bf when we first started dating. And then when he tried to use smileys I just felt like he was being sarcastic so it just ended up making us fight. Until I was like. OKAY. OKAY. You don't have to use smileys. hahahaha

People always thought I was smart. Well.... most people I guess. There's obviously always some people that'll be like "that fucking idiot." But at least no one said that to my face.
I felt stupid in some fields tho. But I think that was mostly me being so used to hearing I was smart that when I didn't have a easy time with something I was like "omg I'm stupid." Thinking back on it.

That description of you reminds me of one of my best friends. She's super smart. But people think she's stupid just bc she's nice and easy going and sometimes shy. Me and her bf has her as a test XD if people think she's stupid, they're most likely stupid. But if people can see how smart she is. They're smart people too. hahaha

Yeah I get what you mean. Maybe it's a bit of a forum culture thing as well? I remember that having a cold and standoffish language was quite common on gSm too. I find that "smartness" comes across regardless of language use, but also - there is no need to flaunt ~intelligence~ in every post anyway. I find myself drawn to people who just relay good vibes

also long live 'XD', I wouldn't know how to live without you

I related so much to what u said. I feel like u also often get labeled as being "young" or "immature"
I have a very humorisetic approach to a lot of things and tend to not take things as serious as others i have talked to. I try to look positively at things and dont get dragged by emotions. Besides that I'm also very bad at expressing myself. That also means that i been labeled as dumb, immature and people think that "I don't act my age".

Yeaah I can understand that. I think it's weird that people can't see past things like that tho. Like. I never understood that?

Sad bc you want to be employable, but also convinced you're not supposed to be employed anyways?
I think you need to get to the root of your issue! It sounds mixed up.

I'm silly and goofy and I think people think I'm dumber than I actually am because I'm actually pretty smart. I say some really dumb things and my mind has brain farts a lot when I'm speaking to people but it's just because I have trouble speaking. My 7th grade teacher put it best when she said "Sarah's the kind of girl that doesn't pay attention to class and still aces the test"
