oh you are cheeky !!
~~

Hailee was wearing a black washed denim button up skirt with a black lace bodysuit to match. She ran her black acrylic nails along the lockers that lined the hallways of her old college building. It had been years since she was last here and in fact she nearly never came to the reunion party because her husband was not exactly keen on her going without him. Nervously she stood at the hall door, taking a deep breath before pushing the door open to see a room flooded with familiar faces that had changed in funny little ways. Her eyes scanned the room, searching for someone.. but her train of thought was interrupted when Dave came rushing up to her, he had organised the entire reunion and definitely hadn't changed from their school days, "You made it!" he said with a wide grin, "Yeah.. " Hailee said with a soft laugh.

Finlay had been in the hall for around ten minutes now and was chatting with a bunch of his old friends from back in the day, one of whom was Dymitrius, "man you have seriously changed so much, I mean look at you! You are all mysterious and cool with that haircut. Nothing like back in the day" he chuckled, ruffling about his own hair with his free hand and taking a sip from the beer bottle in his other hand. Perhaps this reunion was exactly what he needed to help put his current life in perspective, it had all moved so fast. Lauren and him had only been together for just over a year and they were already engaged, she had the wedding all planned out and had even looked into booking a date. Yet he just didn't feel ready for all this change.

Martina hadn't had a night out in what seemed to feel like years. Motherhood had taken priority and though her family were very helpful, she mostly felt alone. Running her perfectly manicured nails through her thick mane of hair, she slid her way through the crowds of people, so many faces that she recognised and what only one stood out. He made her heart beat at a million miles a second, as if she were being transported back to that week, of utter heartbreak and confusion. Taking a glass of champagne off one of the trays being carried around the room, she smiled to a few friendly faces. Waggling her fingers when Finlay caught her attention.

Dymitrius couldn't quite believe he had dragged himself along. This wasn't his scene, if his friends had caught him he'd be the laughing stock of the town. He was in to motorbikes and cheap thrills and well, this evening was the opposite. Pushing up the sleeves of his leather jacket, he looked at Finlay, a small grin cross his pink lips. "I suppose we all did some growing up, but god damn t doesn't feel like it's been ten years already does it. I man look at you, I hear you're engaged and shit now? Congrats man." Patting Finlay on the arm, he took a swig of the drink that was in his hand, his foot tapping to the song that was playing in the background. There was better things he could be doing on a Friday night, that was for sure.

Hailee uncomfortably chatted with Dave until another unfortunate soul walked into the hall and she took that as her chance to escape. Heading straight to the makeshift bar area she picked up a bottle of beer and flicked off the lid using the edge of the table before pressing the bottle against her lips. Perhaps this was a bad idea, coming to this stupid reunion. She never really had many friends back at school and spent most of her time as an outcast, now here she was ten years later covered in tattoos and working as a photographer, not exactly anything to boast about either. She circled the room, saying hi to a few friendly faces.

Finlay chuckled, nodding at the fact that they had all grown up but he felt a little off when his engagement was mentioned, "yeah.. its pretty crazy isn't it, life just seems to have flown by since the colleges days." he looked away from Dymitrius and spotted Martina across the hall, "holy shit.." he said softly, "she still looks incredible" he said with a soft smile on his lips, "I'll catch up with you later mate, alright?" he said before making his way across the hall to the first love of his life, "well well well, look who we have here." he laughed, "it's great to see you after so long Martina." He couldn't admit it but his heart was beating faster than it had in so long.

D nodded once at him. "Sounds good man, talk to you in a bit." He smiled as he walked off, though it soon slipped from his face and instead a sigh fell from his lips, leaning against the table beside him, D shoved a hand in his pocket, observing the rest of the hall. He'd never really been close to anyone apart from Fin. He wasn't the most friendliest of gentleman, that was for sure. He browsed the premises, looking for another's lonely soul to latch onto. Skulking over, keeping his head low, he slid to the bar, ordering another beer, he turned his head, a pretty little thing next to him. "Nice technique.." he commented, cracking the cap off with his slight haggletooth. His favourite party trick.

Martina swigged back the bubbles, letting them fizz down her threat and settle her nerves. Her high heels were already starting to make her feet ache dress was riding up at the back, the zip just a tad too tight. She couldn't blame it on baby weight, not after ten years. Lifting her head as Finlay headed to her, Martinas stomach began to perform backflips, the excitement almost too overwhelming. She had never managed to love a man like she had loved him. Never had forgetten his touch, his lips, his fingers. Damn it. Nodding her head once at him, she half heartedly hugged him, trying not to make it too awkward. "You too, Finlay. We left it far too long." She didn't even have social media to catch up with him.

Hailee turned to look at D, it had been an eternity since she had last saw him and he looked completely different and for a few seconds she even struggled to figure out who it was, "that trick never gets old for you huh?" she laughed, taking another swig from her bottle before letting it rest down by her side. "Never thought you would be the type to make an appearance at a reunion, Fin must have done some serious begging in advance." she paused, wondering for just a moment whether or not D even recognised her. They had never been close during their school years yet had somehow silently bonded over their inability to fit in with everyone else.

Finlay was lost for words, she had never looked so beautiful and the twinkle in her eye had not faded over the years, "we really did, and I am so sorry for that." He paused for a moment, letting the awkward air settle between them, "I really should of gotten in touch with you sooner.. the way we left things after all we went through together was just immature." he looked into her eyes, ruffling his hair a bit, "anyway, how have you been? what has life treated you to these last ten years. You'll need to fill me in on it all." he said with a soft chuckle. Even after all this time he found himself feeling comfortable in her presence all over again.

Dymitrius found it funny how much he surprised people, puberty had certainly kicked in a little late and he was no longer the nerdy ugly duckling and he knew it. His broad and masculine physique along with a charming smile and luscious hair, plus tattoos galore. He was a changed man. "Always impresses ladies at the parties, even now. Probably too old to even be partying any more but whatever." He rested his arms on the bar, leaving his torso slightly. Being tall took its toll sometimes. Especially talking to tiny people like hailee. "He's a good guy, I haven't seen him in a while and wanted to congratulate him on his engagement." He nodded his hand towards her left hand. "Looks like you've been busy too huh?"

Martina rested the empty glass down beside her, her hands now fiddling with the clutch bag she had with her. A nervous little habit she'd never been able to drop. "I know.. we said a lot of things we probably never meant but we were stupid back then. I never held a grudge against you though, Finlay." Her bold red lips curved into a delicate smile as she looked up at him, her eyes locking with his. It were as if no one else was in the room and time stood still. Damn it, she just couldn't let him go. "Well it's been a kind of a rollercoaster that's for sure. I uhm.. I have a daughter now.. her name is Rosita." She pulled her phone out and loaded a picture up. Her daughter would be 10 soon. Their daughter. God, how was she ever supposed to drop that bombshell on him?

Hailee could hardly take her eyes off of him, it was hard to believe he was a scrawny kid with a silly haircut ten years ago, now he resembled a god in a leather jacket. "One of these days the tooth will come flying out and then you will really get the ladies" she giggled softly before finishing the remainder of the bottle. "Damn, I always thought Martina and Finlay would be that sweet college couple that stayed together forever, I would of even put money on it." She paused, gazing down at her hand where the rather brilliant and ridiculously expensive diamond ring was, "Yeah, it's been three years now since we tied the knot." She let a small sigh slip through her lips.

Finlay nodded his head in agreement with her, it was all true. The way they had ended was a hot whirlwind mess riddled with unnecessary jealousy, if he had a time machine he would go back and erase the horrible day. "I'm really glad to hear that because I've never held any against you either." He listened to her as she spoke and a smile crossed his lips when she mentioned a daughter, though an inner jealousy formed in his stomach..That could of been his life, with Martina, and their own child but he threw it all away. "She is gorgeous, you can tell she definitely has your smile."

D shrugged. "I know a guy, he can just bash it right back into place for me so it's fine." He teased, running his tongue across the slightly jagged tooth that stood out on the side of his mouth. His smile was perfect apart from that but he simply couldn't bring himself to fix it. It was just one of his quirks. Stepping a little closer, he ran his thumb across the wedding band, lookin Hailee in the eye as he did so. "Wow.. that sigh, you seem really happy about that.." shaking his head. He didn't understand the commitment, the rush to be together forever. What was so wrong with just enjoying life with whoever you wanted, whenever you wanted. "Who's the lucky guy then?"

Martina sighed with relief, simply glad that Finlay didn't hate her. I'm glad. I said some really nasty things to you, things that weren't true but.. that's all in the past now." She locked her phone and slid it back into her clutch bag, her teeth resting gently on her bottom lip. "She's a handful.. she's asking questions now, about hy it's only me and whatever but.. I guess she's just becoming a premature teenager." Laughing softly, she pushed her hair behind her ear, looking back up at him. "Fancy getting another drink? You need to catch me up on whatever the hell you've been up to." Nudging him gently with her elbow, she began to head to the bar.

Hailee couldn't help but laugh, "Not sure that sounds very safe but I would also love to see it happen for some reason." She watched as he ran his fingers across her ring, wondering what exactly was going on inside of his head, "I mean I am happy, " she laughed, shaking her head and moving her hand away from him "it's just complicated." She paused for a long moment, considering whether she should he honest. "Marcus West." She finally said, watching his eyes, most people knew about Wests gang, he was somewhat infamous in the city.

Finlay couldn't quite believe that there was now a mini Martina running around in this world, "oh, I hate to pry but I'm sorry the father didn't stay around. But she must know she has one incredible mother." He smiled before laughing a little, "of course, I need another few drinks to make some of the people in this place Look a  little better. I mean did you see Dean? I swear he use to look like a young David Beckham and now.. yikes" he chuckled, leading her over to the makeshift bar, "What would you like to know about my not very exciting last ten years?"

D grinned wider, eating her hand drop from his, but he sure as well wasn't going to drop the topic. "You just wanna see me in pain don't, you, evil woman. I always knew you had a dark streak in you but pain? You're wild." He finished off his second beer of the evening, pushing his fingers through his hair, pushing back a few stray strands that had found their way away from his perfect quiff. The most dangerous of smirks crossing his face. The Wests. "Well, fuckin' hell, never had you down as someone who liked to play with fire and get burned." It was almost like a challenge to him, hearing it. Most guys would run a mile. Dymitrius was the opposite.

Martina shrugged, a lie, a lie, anything but the damn truth, come on Martina.. "yeah uhm we just weren't really right for each other. I'm guessing he's happy now and he doesn't interfere, and I'm perfectly fine by myself. She'll realise one day. And if she wants to, I can introduce her to her father." Ordering a rum and coke, she slid a straw through it before her eyes drifted back up to meet Finlay. Giggling softly. "Gosh I know, and to think I used to fancy half of these guys. Thank god you haven't changed." She cooed, sipping in her drink. "I wanna know everything! Surely you have someone on the scene by now, tell me all about her?"

"Maybe, I think it would be rather entertaining after all," Hailee said with a small laugh, shaking her head, "evil is my middle name, twice removed though." Her eyes followed his movements like a cat would follow anything that moved before averting her gaze and finishing her own beer. "That's because I never get burned" She added, placing the bottle down on a table nearby so that she didn't have to hang onto it for however long they were going to be talking for. "So how about you, still eternally single?" she said with a cheeky little smirk on her lips. He had been teased a lot back in the day for being a virgin and having problems getting a girlfriend, but that was all before this glow up he went through.

Finlay listened to her as they headed over to get another drink, "I'm really sorry to hear that, you deserve someone that is gonna stick by you through thick and thin." he said with a smile, almost a sad smile; I could of been that guy.. he thought to himself. He ordered himself a straight double whisky, or whatever the term is, and swirled it around in the glass as they spoke, "Yeah so many people have changed! It's nuts" he laughed for a moment when Martina said he looked the same, "just a couple more tattoos then I had back in the day. Remember that horrendous one that just said Infinity but they spelt it Infantry? its all covered up now!" he grinned, pulling the sleeve of his t shirt up to expose the sleeve of tattoos covering his skin. When she mentioned his life he froze, and for a moment all of time stood still and he made the decision to lie, "well there was someone, we were actually engaged but she left me for another man." he said quietly, thankful that he wasn't wearing his wedding band tonight so the lie seemed a lot more legit.

D shook his head, but the grin remained. "Yeah yeah, evil used to be your first name, cursing everyone you could, even if they didn't know about it. Pure evil. It's the thing I always admired about you." He nodded his head slowly at hailee, his eyes taking a moment to admire her. She has blossomed so much, her hair falling down her spine, the beautiful artwork that skimmed her soft skin. She'd always been someone he adored, admired from afar. "He's a lucky man, and yourena fool for agreeing to not only date but marry a murderer." He ordered them both another drink, glancing at Fin and Martina. It was nice to see them talking again, she'd always been so good for him. Averting his eyes back to Hailee, he raised a single eyebrow. "Single but much the opposite tonwha you're referring to. I stood a girl up tonight to come to this shit."

Martina fiddled with the clasp of her clutch bag, not quite being able to meet his eye. He had no idea he was talking about himself, he was the one who walked away from their relationship, he didn't even bother texting her after that week. "Oh well, I'm kind of okay in my own, I think it would be weird having someone live with me, like having a stranger in my home." Laughing softly, her eyes scanned the room, for any more familiar faces. But nothing felt quite as comfortable as being stood there with Finlay, he seemed to know the right things to say, and do. He always had. Looking back up at him, her mouth fell into a small 'o' shape, not even hesitating before reaching out, her fingertip tracing along the tattoos that travelled up his arm. She was in awe. "Holy shit they're beautiful, Fin.." her fingertip ran all the way up his arm, until it finished in the rose, at the side of his neck. "This one is my favourite though." She let her hand drop, a small smile on her lips, though it slipped into a frown as he explained. "Oh.. I'm sorry to hear that, are you okay?"

"That is very true, my pure evil days are somewhat behind me, now I'm just evil when its necessary." Hailee added, before smiling a little, "you admired me huh?" she said in a fun mocking voice. She noticed his eyes tracing her body, admiring her art work, "I did some of them myself," she finally said in reference to the tattoos on her arms. "I never had the patience to make it a full time career but it's still fun." When he mentioned that Marcus was lucky she paused, looking directly into D's eyes, "perhaps it is safer to marry a murderer than live in fear." But her story was much more complex than she could even dream of admitting to D. "of course you did" she said, letting a laugh out, "well I hope it was worth it because this is probably as fun as the night is going to get. David is good at getting people together but awful at ensuring the night doesn't flop."

Finlay took a small sip of his drink, letting the liquid swirl his mouth before slipping down his throat, "that is true, I suppose now its more of a case of ensuring your daughter is also comfortable with someone new coming into her life." The thought of her having a child was still crazy and it just hit him that ten years really had passed, their lives had moved on without each other. The touch of her hand across his skin sent butterflies through his body and once her hand touched his neck he reached up to hold her hand there for a few moments longer than she intended. "yeah, I should of seen the signs earlier but I suppose I just went blind. honestly, now, the worst part of it all is that she kept our dog.. I miss him a lot." he sighed a little before shaking his head and looking back at her, "but I don't want to talk about all the sadness I've been through." he said, trying to put a smile back on his lips. "my mums missed you, you always had such a good gossip with her even when her memory was starting to become fuzzy."

"I'm sure Marcus does all the evil for you so you don't get your hands dirty, right? Couldn't have his pretty little wife getting into his issues." Dymitrius had a particular hatred for the Wests, he never got involved in gangs but he'd definitely dabbled in the dark side of the towns issues, that was certain. His eyes meeting Hailiee once more, he reached out once she mentioned her tattoos, taking it as silent consent that he could. His hand delicately holding her wrist, he studied her tattoos, the intricate patterns that danced along her arm, up to her elbow. "Looks like you could do something serious if you put you're mind to it, all of these are ace. You should do some for me some time." He let his hand slide to her fingers, giving them a squeeze, before letting go over her, flashing her a playful smile. "it's not so bad, I like seeing what people are getting up to."

Martina nodded in agreement. "She's old enough to know what's going on now and to make a judgement for herself. I suppose to her no one is as good as her real dad so it's better if it's just us two." Running her fingers through the ends of her hair, she adjusted her stance, moving to lean on her other foot, her heels taking their toll. It had been so damn long since she'd been dressed up like this, it were as if her body was rejecting the whole idea of it now. "Well that's just rubbish, you should sneak in with his favourite treats and get him back." She joked, trying to lighten the mood, she shuffled a little closer, her hand brushing against his gently. "I missed her too to be honest, I tried popping in a few times the months after but then.. well.. she seemed more interested in telling me off than supporting me." She finshed off her drink, placing the glass down at the bar.

Hailee raised her brow slightly and smirked, "you think I'm pretty as well huh," she noted, without commenting on the rest of what he said. He was entirely wrong, the amount of times her husband had dragged her into his business was beyond ridiculous but perhaps that was going to be her future from now on. She watched as he analysed her arms, it was nice to have her artwork appreciated for once, "I suppose I could squeeze you in sometime as long as you aren't squeamish around needles." She laughed softly, imagining D freaking out over a small needle even though he was acting all tough now. "fair enough, I suppose it can be quite fun" she added before her attention moved to the soft buzz of her phone, pulling it out she saw she had a a text from West, hey baby I won't be back in town until tomorrow night, don't have too much fun at that reunion x

"I suppose you are right about that" Finlay added, not entirely sure what else to say on the matter. His eyes moved to what her feet were doing and he couldn't help but laugh, "still can't wear heels for longer than an hour huh? some things never change|" he chuckled to himself, remembering all the nights out that he would carry her home on his back because she had blisters all over her feet from trying to wear ridiculously tall heels. "That is pretty tempting .. only downside would be if they called the cops on me though." he laughed, ruffling his hair about as he let out a soft sigh. "Yeah, her memory isn't what it use to be, her dementia is getting a lot worse and theres a chance it won't be long until she doesn't recognise anyone anymore.." his voice faded for a moment but he looked back into her eyes, "but I think she would love to see you again. Actually no, I don't think, I know she would. She talks about you a lot, how you were like the daughter she never had."
