 International Day for Women's Rights is celebrated annually on March 8. This day was made official by the United Nations in 1977. It originated in the suffragettes and the workers' struggles for better working conditions and the right to vote at the beginning of the 20th century. It's a day of events around the world: an opportunity to take stock of the situation of women. Traditionally, groups and associations of activists prepare demonstrations achievements who was made for women’s rights and to make their demands heard, in order to improve the situation of women. It's a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women in all the world. In many countries (Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Algeria, Laos, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Byelorussia), International Women's Day is a public holiday. That day we celebrate all women by sending them special postcards, flowers and phoning them to wish them a happy day. This year, the theme of the International Day for Women's Rights is #BalanceforBetter, with thoughts about how to build a gender-balanced world. How to make a better gender-balanced governments, media coverage, wealth or sports coverage? It's not only a women's issue but a real business issue that concerns everyone. It's a notion that is essential for economies and communities to thrive. Hairdresser at half-price offer on perfume, makeup or lingerie, laundry at a reduced price, and discounts of all kinds bloom at this time of the year. These promotional actions made this day controversial because they are far from the key objectives of the event and are discrediting it.
