 ReportDESIGNS • Uploading a design
I've searched around for a while, but other than the idea of someone saying the DesignerTeam was working on a tutorial on how to upload a design with the new uploader, I couldn't find one. So if I was just blind, please redirect me to the tutorial and I will link it here, since an official tutorial would probably be better than one I just whipped up.

VP has a lot of bases to design on. You can essentially pick whichever you like best, but I'd recommend for the start to use the official standing upright one. It's the one that gets used the most and seems the easiest to learn on.
You can find all of the bases linked here.

! Please keep in mind that making your own base is not allowed by VP's rules.

This is not an extensive tutorial on how to design for VP. If you need directions on how to get started, please check out the tutorial collection here.

Something that hasn't changed with the new update is the need for precisely cut items. This means, you'll want as little free space around an item as possible (with tiny accessories being the exception, having more empty space around them makes them easier to handle).

lots of free space vs no free space

Save all your items like this with a transparent background (.png) on your device and make sure to have a set overview (the complete look like you'd wear it) ready to go.

Now comes the fun part. Once you have your design fully ready, go ahead and upload it via the clothing manager, which can be found under clothes.

! Please be aware that you need to be National Star (minimum) to be able to submit designs.

The uploader will automatically show you your approved designs. In my case - none. This will look different once you start submitting designs and they get accepted.

! The designer team is the one accepting designs. They have their own schedule according to which they go through the system. Don't worry, if your design gets rejected, you get a message informing you of why and what to improve.

You can toggle between the views of approved items, submitted but not treated yet and rejected designs. You can also filter through your own designs based on all the usual filter options.

To submit a new design, click + Add new item.

You are taken to this landing page.

! Before submitting your design, please familiarise yourself with the rules. It would suck if that were the only reason why your design gets denied.

Choose between single upload and set upload. A set upload needs minimum 5 items, but you can always add more if you've set the number too low. Set the gender of your base and give your set a distinct ID (usually a descriptor of the set and combination of numbers and your name do well). It's important there is no other design on VP with said ID!

Once you've hit Submit & Next, a new layer will open up underneath. This is the uploader.

It's pretty easy going from here. You click on the first image box (Image 1) and search your device for the item you want to upload.

Your item will appear in the top left corner of the box. That won't do. You have to drag the item to it's proper place.

! This works best on desktop. There may be issues with placement or even being able to drag an item on mobile.

Now if you have a recolour, upload this item next. If they are cut the same way, they will layer perfectly on top of each other. Clever uploading will save you a little bit of time and misery.

Next you set all the right information. Choose a pose (doing this before you place the item will help you with the placement), category and colour. Do try to set a colour for every item! Skin is about the only exception to this rule.

Your designer label will always read Nondesigner - Y/N. This is something you do not need to mind.

Now keep uploading all your other items and setting the information for them.

After you're done, check if you haven't done a mistake. Checking for mistakes yourself before submitting means less work for the designers afterwards in case the mistake slips through.

Once you're done, you can either Save and continue later or submit your design. These buttons do what they say they do.

So if you're happy with your design, submit it and wait for the feedback.

If you have any remaining questions, don't hesitate to ask.
