CAT BREED help me choose

Ragdolls are super boring >.<

Well okay, all the ones I've met. I've also heard they have more health issues.

Take whatever breed is the healthiest and easiest to take care of!

The shorthair looks cuter imo too.

I have a ragdoll mix. Perfect indoor cat. Really calm and loves to be wherever you are. She doesn't like to be alone.
She is like a dog. Comes running when you get home and appreciates you tons. She likes to be with you but on a fair distance. Not a fan of being petted except when She decides to. It's very rare but it's special whenever she do want it.

She however cost €850.
The place I would be buying from has the same price.
I've been researching ragdolls for like about a year now and their personality is certainly cute yes. Though I will only get one of them if I feel like the personality of the kitten fits mine. That's why I've waited for such a long time now.

Thank you tho

I know you said you didn’t want to adopt since you like these two breeds, but I’d still advice you to check your local shelters since it’s not too unusual that they get in a ragdoll or two every once in a while.
I've been to lots of shelters the past 5 years or so looking for a cat, but I just haven't found one that fitted me, so now I'm looking from breeders.

Well I'm not looking for a super active cat or anything. So I'm perfectly fine with that haha
Regarding their health they can have certain genetic health conditions, but I've found a breeder that tests for these, so it should not be a problem hopefully.
Same with the British shorthair.

Thank you though.

I'm starting to consider just looking for both breeds. Like meeting the kittens and look for a good personality match instead of already choosing between the two.

ah yeah I don't mean as in "active" but everyone I've met just rather not socialize with humans or doesn't wanna get pet. And I feel like.. if you can't cuddle with your cat... that's boring.

Oh.. That seems.. odd? I've read about them a lot and they should love attention? The ones I met were very social too. Maybe the ones they got weren't handled as much by the breeder?

Meh, I dunnu. It's just my experience XD
Maybe also bc I babysat one for a week and it was the fucking cat from hell. hahahaha
The owner just needed me to have it for 2 days but she "missed my calls" for several more days bc I think she liked the peace XD

But anyways. It sounds to me like you want a ragdoll. By everything you've said in this thread. You haven't talked as much about the shorthair at all. Or like. Don't seem as protective against that breed so... I think you have your decision!

Must fucking suck to have a cat you have to get away from instead of missing it. Sounds like she might not be the most.. experienced owner haha. But yas, thank you so much for your insight. I really appreciate it!

No one has written about the shorthairs yet, so I don't really have anything to defend haha.
And sorry if it came off defensive. I didn't mean to sounds like that. I just want to know which one people think I should choose. Not why I shouldn't pick any of them. If you know what I mean? haha

She actually grew up with cats and has always had cats. This cat was just a asshole XD like... a very very pretty asshole. Think: Commercial cat.
But it didn't like cuddling, it barely wanted to play. And during the night it screamed all night long, being bored. Like. Yeah. No shit. You didn't wanna play during the day! OFC YOU'RE BORED.
hahaha sorry. I just have very bad memories of that cat XD

It seems to me that personality is most important to you, so I think this approach would be the best. I'd meet with both breeders (don't know how many you've found) and meet the kittens.
When we (my mom and I) chose our dogs (Bernese Mountain), we already knew which breed and seller we wanted to buy them from. We chose our first because he just fell asleep in both our arms and stuck his tongue out.
