Ah, well, I thought you might have a male side. But you could make one just to get the set!

Unfortunately we won't have time to go through all entries if they are longer ^^

Yeah, unfortunately this writing comp is meant for very short pieces, but I hope you'll join anyway!

The scariest experience I've ever had is losing a loved one and having to say goodbye. A different take on fear, I suppose. This piece is based on the experience.

The hand resting on my shoulder felt so heavy it might as well have been trying to push me down into the dirt to rest alongside the white coffin. All the hands were heavy. I wanted everyone to stop touching me, and leave me alone. Pity. Every time I turned my head I met someone’s pitiful eyes. Stop looking.
“Ashley, dear, come on… People want to offer their condolences,” my mum whispered into my ear, squeezing my shoulder.
Her fingers dug deep into my skin, and she pulled me along like a wounded dog on a leash.
I looked at my grandparents through the blur of my tears as I stood beside them. Their eyes were so empty they might as well have been gouged out and replaced with swirling worms. They would eat their way towards the brain, and eventually, there would be nothing left and they would be as dead on the outside as I felt on the inside.
Someone took my hand in a tight grip, shaking it. My arm wobbled up and down like a piece of meaty, red jelly.
“I’m sorry for your loss,” the hand spoke.
No, not the hand - the person. I looked up. Pity. Go away.
“Thank you.”
The person shuffled along, and a new hand grabbed hold of my own. I barely spared each person a glance. All I wanted was to see the coffin one more time before it disappeared under the surface.

It doesn't have to be a real experience, you can just make something up!

Tag, you’re it!”

A light tap on her shoulder indicates it’s her turn. As she turns around, she hears the faint giggle of her brother disappearing into the corn maze. Following her instincts and depending on her senses, she follows the sound of echoing footsteps. She sees his shadow, illuminated by the moon, when he suddenly disappears from her sight.

Believing it to be a mere trick, she continues. After running around for awhile, a devastating scream cuts through the air; causing goosebumps all over. She swallows hard. She hears rustling; something drawing closer, and then runs for her life. It’s too dark to see, and she constantly has the feeling of being watched.

Stop it, it’s not fun, Ludvig!”

She screams, her being filled with panic and fear. Through the corn maze she spots the faint glow of light, coming from the windows. A sense of relief washes over her, when something pokes her back. Believing it to be her brother, she faces whatever it is. The scarecrow is staring right back at her, and for some reason she can’t look it in the eyes for too long.

Something about it is unsettling, or maybe it’s just the paranoia getting to her again. Its branches are rustling in the cold October wind; coming alive, and she sighs. Maybe Ludvig is already inside, telling their parents how he fooled her. She adjusts her scarf and heads towards the door.

What she fails to notice is the fresh pool of blood, lying at the Scarecrow’s feet.
