What are choice feminists?
The idea is that anything a woman does is a feminist act because she chooses to do it.
This is something I personally disagree with. I do not think that say, wearing makeup is a feminist act just because you choose to do it. Wearing makeup is something some feminists call "Performing femininity" and I do not believe that performing femininity is feminist. It's not a BAD thing, it just isn't a feminist act. There are many kinds of feminist theories out there. High heels aren't feminist just because you choose to wear them, in my opinion. "Choice feminists" would disagree with me.
edit: a word
To elaborate a bit more, choice feminists are the ones who say "sex work is empowering" while other feminists, like myself, think that there is no such thing as 'sex work' and see those who buy prostitutes as rapists. The idea is that coerced sex is rape, and being payed for sex is coercion. Feminists like myself see prostitutes as victims of our patriarchal society. Liberal feminists and choice feminists would tell me that I'm stupid and that selling your body for sex is an empowering choice.
