why do i need empathy? like is there actually a single legitimate thing u need empathy for?
Humans evolved this way bec we're social animals that wanna care care of each other and blablabla whatever. But you as an individual?

I can speak for myself but it there was a second version of me and the other me didn't have the ability to feel empathy, I feel like I, as someone that is able to, would be able to look at something or somethings from another perspective than the other me would ever be able to understand. I'm always someone that wants to know as much as possible and to lack something as important as empathy and understanding and relating to other people's emotions is something that's very useful, that would not be ideal to me.......

Would I rather have a child that is empathic or a child that is non-empathic? The first option. I'm glad most people aren't self-serving at all times because they simply don't care about others unless it's for their own good

If you're happy as someone that doesn't feel empathy, good for you though. We're just different I guess :-)
do u honestly think u need the feel empathy to be able to be a good person? u sounds like one of those "if you dont believe in hell, whats gonna stop u from murdering and pillaging!" people
What makes a good person good? You might say that a good person does "good things" whatever that means but how can be humans be a judge of that? There are infamous people that are considered bad, but how do we surely know they're "bad" if they had good intentions? It's a tricky question. If you're religious you can easily just say that it's God that makes the final decision.... but anyways

I guess it depends on your morals. I don't consider somebody that murders innocent people to be good people in my book. I don't necessarily think that you need empathy to be a good person but lacking that empathy is a bigger risk into you becoming "bad" because of your lack of care of other people

Tldr: yes you can be a good person if you lack empathy but I think it's more common to find "good people" that are empathic  :-)

even if someone lacks empathy doesn't mean they don't know what not to do... lol

there's something wrong other than lacking empathy if that person goes around murdering people.

No but they're unable to empathize with people which I consider to be a great loss

If you're unable to feel empathy, you don't care about other people the same way empathetic people do. If a loved family member gets hurt, an empathetic person will FEEL for that person and possibly be sad for them while an non-empathetic person wouldn't feel upset for any other reason than for selfish ones

I like that nonchalant response after I gave you a proper explanation of the association between lack of empathy and lack of care. Very nice

Good question! I've been in those type of "mental stages" but I recently decided to change after I learned more about it. I like my current "stage" much more than my previous ones, meaning the "empathic me" is the best version of me :-)

I know nothing about your personal life, your relationships or your experience other than what you've told me, which is that you're unable to feel empathy so I'm basing these things off that alone

Somebody that is unable to feel empathy do not care about people the same way empathetic people do. That doesn't mean they don't care at all... I'll give you an example.

If somebody that is able to feel empathy had a sister and she died in a car crash, that person would feel bad and able to empathize over her sudden and tragic death and feel sad for her sake. If you're not an empathetic person, you'd only be sad for selfish reasons because you cannot talk to your sister anymore, she can't help you anymore, etc. That doesn't mean you cannot love your sibling or other people but it just means that you cannot empathize with them. I understand that it's hard for you to understand it but that's just the way it is
