By Selby:
The wall was breathing. Pulsating, as though it was alive. I swear I could hear it. Kyle suggested bailing and I had never agreed more. We hurried to the door with the creaking of the floorboards hunting us until moonlight hit our faces. Problem was, there were only two.

“Where’s Veronica?”

We swung our flashlights around, faintly illuminating the breathing wall. Through the beam of light I could see that something was different. A thick, red substance leaked out through the old wood. I think Kyle saw it too.

We called out for Veronica, never daring to take our eyes off the wall. Going home without her wasn’t an option, so our feet once again treaded over the threshold. It was too quiet. No creaking, no wind howling outside. Just its heartbeat. Growing louder, louder, louder as we closed in. It felt like it was right there, inside my ears. Or maybe that was just the sound of my own heart, beating out of my chest.

We called out for her again and again until we were close enough to feel it. It was warm, almost… Inviting. I don’t know what possessed me to do what I did in that very moment, when I raised my arm, reached out to the wood and-

“Guys!”

We turned at the speed of light. There stood Veronica, in broad daylight with her flashlight still in hand. My mouth fell open. I swung around, half expecting the mouth of hell to stand behind me but I was met with nothing but old, wooden boards. The warmth was gone. Regular sounds of a sunny day passed through my eardrums. That is where it ended.

Veronica later told us that she had gone outside with me and Kyle. We didn’t believe her at first but she was so sure in her story. She said that once outside, me and Kyle turned and went back in again, shouting after her like she wasn’t there. She had thought it was a bad joke and eventually went home, coming back the next day to look for us only when no one had seen us.

A couple of days later we all had our own version of the story. We still tell them to this very day and we all have our own explanations for what happened. For the others, the memory has begun to fade. Perhaps in time it will do the same to me. You know, some days when I look at that old house, I think I can still hear its heart beating in my ear. Or maybe that’s just mine again.

In the end, I never got to scare my friends. The house did that for me, together with the ones it ate.

By Wheatley:
(note: trypophobia warning!)

The room was slowly illuminated by the flashlight panning upwardsto an impossibly-high ceiling. What part of the floor was visible was rotted wood, some portions even caved in due to the room’s contents. A fireplace, still smoking from a recently put-out fire, seemed to have melted the horror in the center of the room- a massive pile of wax mannequins, faces blurring into legs and arms, torsos connected to other torsos, scattered mats of hair where wigs once were on heads, a nightmarish tangle of limbs with a gooey undefined mass at the center of it all. One notable face had its eyes completely melted out, mouth dripping in a way that made it look like a gaping maw.

My first friend covered his mouth in shock, and my second friend gagged slightly. After the initial surprise of the horrifying creature wore off, I could see (or rather, smell) why she felt ill. The heap smelled like a combination of melted crayons and rotted meat, with tiny traces of old wood throughout. My eyes watered as I also gagged, frantically reaching into my backpack for the makeshift gas masks we’d made- medical masks with damp washcloths crammed into them. They did an excellent job at keeping out the smell, but now added the even more fear-inducing feeling of being suffocated.

“I think we should go,” I suggested, voice wavering, but before I could even speak my first friend was tiptoeing across the wood to investigate even further.

“Come on!” my second friend insisted, and before I could even argue she had me by the wrist, pulling me closer. I couldn’t speak, couldn’t argue; I couldn’t even move anywhere other than where my friend directed me. Every cold eye that glared at me made my blood run icier and icier, and the shadows cast across them made it seem like they were blinking a warning.

Without a second word, my first friend suddenly bolted past, yanking us by the wrists. “Go, go!” he ordered, and before we could even argue the impact from him tripping knocked all three of us down, tumbling backwards straight into what our friend was trying to get us to run from. A quadrupedal creature (there was no other word for that thing) was hunched behind the melted mass, impossibly long limbs spread with too-human hands at the ends. Its face was split by random holes, teeth lining them as a greedy tongue lapped away at the largest one. Black hair covered its back, and if I had seen it from miles away I might have assumed it was an injured elderly woman, not… this.

The worst part? Even as we leapt up, even as we continued to run out the door and into the cold night, it did not chase us. It followed us with its face, yes, and even let its mouths hang open as if it were scenting exactly where we were, but it did not follow. Yet, deep down in my chest, I know it is lurking around the neighborhood, searching for the smell it had first caught in that abandoned house.

While it may have looked like a spider, it was not content to sit and wait for its prey. It needed to hunt.

I stumbled upon the floor, flashlight swinging in my other hand, until I reached my friend - still frozen on the same point. His flashlight was pointed on the floor and the beam was quite shaky, as if he didn't dare to point the light at the thing he had just witnessed. I, however, was filled with just enough curiosity to lighten up the area we stood in front of. The view sent shivers down my spine. The wall was clotted with something very similar to blood - old and lumpy. The third of us let a high pitched scream slip through his lips. I turned around to see if he was okay, and smirked at his fear."You know, it might be fake. There have probably been plenty of people raiding this house before us", I told him to calm him down, and he mumbled something about trying to scare the two of us. I shrugged, as I clearly didn't believe that, but I didn't want my friend to feel too bad about himself. The silence had descended again, as the three of us continued to search the house. The house was supposed to belong to one of our neighbors, but I was pretty sure it had been abandoned for decades now. My friends had come to the same conclusion, and so we didn't really expect to meet anyone here. The floors were ancient and creaked amongst our steps. At first it was pretty terrifying, but now as we had entered further through a mouldy, smelly kitchen filled with spider webs and dust, the mood was a little lighter. We even dared to joke a bit. No further blood stains were to be seen, but some of the walls had odd scratches. As if a giant beast would have clawed them. But that would make no sense, right? There were no big mammals around this area - mooses at most, but they didn't have claws. They did have antlers though. The chain of my thoughts suddenly snapped as one of my friends - the one who had completely frozen earlier - called my name. I turned around and pointed my flashlight at him."What is it?" I asked and saw the fear on his face. I could have sworn he was sweating too."Where's Pete?" he asked as quiet as he could while still being able to form the words."Don't be silly", I answered and pointed the flashlight in another corner, "he's right here." Except he wasn't. I was startled and pointed the beam of light around the room."Pete?" I yelled particularly loud so he could hear me, but Bob, the other friend, hushed me (at least as loud). I turned to look back at him and he whispered that we shouldn't make too much noise or the spirits would find us too. I rolled my eyes and put my flashlight down, laying my other arm on Bob's shoulder."Look. It's all good. Pete's probably trying to scare us and that's why he isn't answering", I calmly replied, and Bob seemed a bit better. Still very white, though. So I continued:"If you're scared, you can go and wait for us outside. I'll go find Pete and tell him that we should go back to my place to watch movies because you felt a bit too sick to continue exploring. Okay?" Bob was shivering and he nodded quietly, still not wanting to talk out loud. I gave him a little laugh and watched him to reach the other side of the kitchen hall, then disappearing into the hall and presumably outside."Alright Pete, you can come out. Bob is not feeling well, so he went outside already. He might have a fever", I rambled as I exited the kitchen into the huge living room-like area. All the furniture was coated with formerly white sheets, the paintings were badly damaged, and a huge chandelier had smashed in the middle of the floor filling the mouldy carpet with glass shards. Still not a sign of Pete. How far did that son of a biscuit go and hide? Maybe he wanted us to seem as scared as he first was. Poor lad. Maybe I shouldn't have been grinning at his fear."Pete? Come on, you know I'm too hard to jumpscare", I lied, as I did get scared sometimes, but now I was more frustrated than startled. I dodged all the damaged bits and pieces of furniture and tried to figure out what or who the paintings were of, but they were ripped apart - much like the wall in the kitchen. Interesting. Someone really took their time to make this place spooky. I finally reached the back door of this room, and stepped from a doorless doorframe to a new room. It was a small corridor and it was completely dark, which did creep me out. I pointed my flashlight at the end of the corridor, and finally saw Pete. He was facing the wall, in which was a small, round hole. Maybe big enough for a head to fit in to look at something."Pete, Bob's sick. We should turn back", I told my friend and he twitched a bit. I frowned and stared at the boy, who slowly turned around, facing the floor."I know, I would have wanted to search a bit further too, but Bob -" I chatted, until Pete was completely turned around and lifted his face up. His eyes were like two red lamps and his limbs seemed somehow slack."Uhhhh... Pete?" I checked again and the person at least resembling Pete started to talk with a nonsense language, and with a weird voice - or more like tens of different deep voices. What the heck? Was he possessed? This had to be a trick. I let out a small cry of terror as the slack limbed friend of mine began to walk towards me, but it was like he didn't walk himself; his limbs were not quite working and his head and arms twitched, his eyes didn't blink once, and the talk didn't stop. I turned around to run away from him through the living room and maybe escape through a broken window, but there was no doorless doorframe, the one I surely knew I entered from. It was just an endless corridor."THE HELL?" I yelled and took a step away from Pete, who seemed to be proceeding pretty fast."JESUS! CHRIST!" I cried out and took off my backbag, swinging it at Pete with all my force hoping it would stop him, and it did hit his head. His head tilted heavily and I stopped to go back, afraid that I had hurt him and this was all a joke, but he just continued walking with a crooked, twitching head. I was about to pee my pants in that instant so I turned around and bolted into the endless corridor, hoping to be faster and to reach the end, whatever might lie beyond it. I felt my legs going sore, my lungs gasping for more air, and my heart on fire. I ran for a short time that felt like an eternity and suddenly reached a door. It was covered in old, lumpy blood. I didn't care about the blood as I grasped the doorknob and kicked the entry open. Complete darkness. It was an endless pit, and this was a dead end. Literally. Pete's weird, satanic voice sounded louder and as I turned around, he was right behind me with his odd twitching arm stretched towards me."Get off me, demon!" I yelled, grabbed the collar of his shirt and tried to hold on as he tried to push me into the pit. I tried to kick him, but he seemed to be particularly stronger than normally, and at this point he was yelling these nonsense words in my face. I thought of poor Bob outside the house, assuming he made it out in time. And if he did, I would have to destroy this monster to save him. I grabbed Pete around his torso and sent the two of us into the bottomless pit in a violent hug, hoping that it would destroy the demon and give Bob some time to escape.I hit my head on something hard. It was pitch black and I felt like I couldn't move, like something was wrapped around me. I struggled to find light, and suddenly I got out from the fabric prison I was tucked in - my bedsheets. I had fallen down from my bed and hit my head on the corner of my dresser. It seemed I had been asleep all this time. Still not believing I was alive and well (apart from a little swelling on my forehead) I grabbed my phone to check the time. The 30th of October. A whole day ahead before the Halloween night with Bob and Pete. Unbelievable. I felt sweaty and stood up to go to the bathroom. I should really get a shower. As I entered the hallway from my bedroom, relieved about the fact that it was all a nightmare, I completely ignored the ominous shadowy creature in the corner of my room - twitching and facing the wall, waiting for me to come back.

it was bones laying aroundon the floor, everywhere. James kicked away some of them to make a path we
could walk on to not needing to step on them. When he did that we could see the
stains from blood, it crossed my mind for awhile why didn’t it smell terrible in here? but I skipped over the thoughand followed the others who where on their way into the next room. I had a bad
feeling, but I didn’t want my friends to see that I was scared.  In the next room it wasnothing special as I noticed at first, it was an old fireplace and some
furniture. James sat down in one of the chairs “Guys check them out, they are
super soft to sit in” he said, we walked over and sat down in the sofa. He was
right, this was really comfortable to sit in. I looked out the old window, it
was really dark outside. I thought I saw a shadow passing by around the corner
of the old house, but it was probably nothing, so I didn’t say anything. I got
up on my feet again and walked over too the fireplace, it was still ashes in it
and when I puted my hand on it it felt hot, liked it had been fired just a few
hours ago. “James, check this out, the fireplace is still hot” I said, he
answered “do you try to scare me? People haven used this house in ages.” But
his face changed when he came over and felt it himself. He looked at the others
“maybe we should get home” he asked quite quiet. They nodded in as a answer and
we all rushed to the door. I was about to open thedoor when it opened and there was someone or something standing there, I´m not
so sure what or who it was, we all screamed and started running in different
directions. The footsteps was following inside and a voice said something, I couldn’t
here what but I didn’t recognise the voice as any of my friends. I crawled
under the sofa and hoped that it was a good enough hiding place. I heard James
scream “don´t eat me” followed of running and then the door made a big noise, I
hoped it was from him getting out safe. I was about to crawl out and get out
myself, but when I was halfway out a head popped out in front of me. “What are
you boys doing in here, Kevin?” asked the sweet voice of the mayor.

...In the middle of living room, down near the table, was a dead animal or what’s left from it,to be frank, the fur and the skeleton.Everywhere around were so many dark spots that seems to be dry blood. It was everywhere;on the walls of living room,to the ground on carpet, the table was half covered with dry blood and also the bookcase was splashed with it.With that horrific scene in front of us,me and my other friend froze. The imagine of it was so disgusting that I  couldn’t stop and I vomited. To the other entry of living room, was a big spot of blood, that big like how someone dragged the animal into that room..When we looked more careful we discovered near the dead animal, footsteps of blood, which they were lost until up of the stairs. Suddenly I felt that I can’t breath anymore and I can faint in any moment.Ghost doesn’t exist, but bad people lives everywhere. Many questions invaded my mind;why someone would do that? What is the reason to kill an animal and to let in the house? Who would do that? I’ve never seen my  neighbours so who made that? Then,a sound came from upstairs;it’s like a door who has been closed.I looked to my friends and they to me and we all put the flashlights into that way,on stairs. My heart was beating that powerful and fast, that i couldn’t hear anything else.„It’s so quiet” whispered one of my friends. After that, sounds began to hear from upstairs. They were rare and weak, more closer to us until they stoped. We were in a big trouble there.Unexpectedly,we heard footsteps from upstairs ,like someone was running, running to us down on the stairs. In the next second i turned and i started running towards the door to get out of there.I lost my flashlight,so i couldn’t see where i was going. My friends lost their flashlights too,but like a miracle,we found the principal door and get the hell out of there .We stoped running just when we felt safe.„Let’s don’t do that ever again, okay guys?”

The decaying corpse of a cat, that seemed to be there for almost a week. We shine our flashlights towards it for a better look. Magots had already formed along its stomach. It seemed as though it was a cut made from a knife. Not only that, but it’s eyes had being gouged out as well. This was definitely done by someone who really doesn't like cats or something. My friend almost fainted from the putrid smell of something from a slaughterhouse. One of my friends wanted out. But, I urged them to ignore it and that it was probably another animal’s doing. Also, due to the fact that I have been anticipating for this day. Somehow I convinced them and we pushed onward. We turn around and shine our light to find stairs leading to a world of darkness. This was the thrill I wanted. My friends are already on edge because of the cat incident. This was the perfect chance to play a prank on them. I suggested for us to follow the stairs upstairs and I made them go up first leading the way. As we stepped onto the stairs, each step followed a loud creaking noise. My friends grabbed onto the railing like their lives depended on it. I thought this was hilarious and I thought this was the perfect moment to implement my plan. When we were halfway or so up the stairs, I yelled really loud. Both my friends jumped and yelled as well. I laugh hysterically. As they turn around to we hear a large crack beneath our feet. We shine our light on the stair and see it crumbling apart. We jet towards the top of the stairs. We made it in time. However, what’s left of the stairs is now a large gaping hole in the middle. There was no way we could use the stairs anymore. Now we had to push on forward to the unknown hallways.

"Woah!" my friend, Ryan, said as he walked over to a dust-covered coffee table and carefully picked up an object. My other friend, Amy, and I walked over to get a better look. "Do you think it's real?" Ryan said as he tried picking cobwebs off of an eerily realistic looking severed hand. I shrugged and said "c'mon, it's Halloween, of course not. They probably just got it from someone who's really good at making movie props or something." It was then that we noticed that Amy was frozen in place staring at something behind us. Ryan waved the severed hand in front of her face. "Hello, anyone home?" he prodded. When she just stammered and slowly lifted up a pointing finger, we turned around. Suddenly we were frozen with shock as well, for there we saw a snake making its way towards us. It must have been at least ten feet long! "R-run!" Amy shouted at us as she made a break for the door. Ryan made a strange whimpering noise as he desperately flung the hand at the angry snake. "You idiot!" I yelled at him as I grabbed his arm, "don't provoke it, let's just get out of here!" All three of us busted out the door and didn't stop running until we reached the nearby park.

After a few minutes of us trying to catch our breath Ryan said "oh no! I set my backpack down and forgot to grab it! My phone's in there, we have to go back!" Amy and I shook our heads violently. "Hell no", said Amy. "There's no way we're going back in there! Just call the cops or something later." He stared at her in disbelief. "And say what? that we broke in to some creepy house for fun?" But before the argument could continue, we suddenly noticed a shadowy figure holding a flashlight and a backpack coming towards us. "Excuse me," said the old man "but I believe this belongs to you, young man. I was upstairs when I heard noise and when I looked out the window I saw you three running away as if you'd just seen a ghost. What were you doing in my house?" My friends and I exchanged nervous glances. "Your house? But... you can't possibly live there. We've never seen anyone inside and the place looks as if it's about to fall apart. All we saw in there was a lot of dust and cobwebs and a giant snake" Ryan told the man as he extended a hand to take back his backpack. The old man, with a solemn expression looked him in the eyes as he said "Giant snake? young man, I live alone in that house and have for the past 45 years."

But before any of us could say another word, the old man vanished right before our eyes. All three of us shrieked as we ran with our backpacks all the way to my house and didn't stop until we securely locked both my front door and bedroom door. "What just happened?" Amy said as she flopped down on my bed. I peeked out the curtain before turning to her and saying "I'm not sure, but I'm never going to another haunted house again!" We decided to spend the rest of the night playing video games (not scary ones of course) and eating our snacks.

By Sonorous:
Just kidding, got you there though. The reason my friend stood frozen, was because of a spider. He’s such a scaredy-cat sometimes, but don’t tell him I said that. I took care of the nasty bug, if I’m allowed to call it like that for once, and now we’re checking out the place. The furniture looks so old and broken, I seriously wonder how one could live in a place like this. “Don’t touch that!” Too late, Gerald broke something again. I certainly hope no one heard the sound of the shattered vase against the wooden floor. Then again, who would care?! The broken theme seems to fit right in with the rest of the house.

While I’m exploring the place, with help of my flashlight, I can’t help but feel a shiver down my spine. It all seems harmless, but I’m a bit scared of going further into the house, it’s like a gut feeling. That’s a thing I can’t tell my pals though, they would make fun of me for eternity, even though Gerald screams like a little girl when a spider approaches him. I can hear Matthew say it already, “A real guy isn’t afraid of anything.” I can assure you, I am a real guy, but secretly I’m scared of quite a few things, although I call others out on them. Admitting that to my friends is something I’d never do though. So I’ll just be brave and follow the others, one foot in front of the other, until we head back home.

In the middle of the room, there’s a huge marble staircase, leading all the way up to what seems to be a library, or at least something with books. It’s too dark to actually see the room clearly, but I’m taking the guess anyway. It seems fitting for an old house to have a library, with lots of books. “Let’s go!” Wait… what?! Who said anything about going up? Can I object?! I guess not, seeing that Matthew is already halfway on the stairs. I don’t like the idea, but as I said before, I need to be brave. So I follow them on the stairs, until we reach the opened door of the library, at least I thought it would be one. Maybe I should have stopped on that staircase and wondered why the door was open in the first place, while all the other doors were shut, but I didn’t and at this moment it’s too late to turn back.

When I walk into the room, I notice some candles on the table. Why is there smoke coming from them? That’s not normal. Is anyone actually able to live here? And why haven’t we seen or heard anyone yet if they clearly have been here only a few seconds ago? “Let’s go back home!”, I shout, while trying to sound cool and not revealing that I’m scared. “Don’t be such a pussy!” Matthew clearly saw right through me. I’m a bit embarrassed by it, so decide to shut up.

While walking toward the corridor, I forget about the candles and try to look cool again, by walking in front of the others, head high and shoulders straight. Because I’m so focussed on looking cool, I don’t notice Gerald isn’t behind us anymore. “Quit fooling around, Gerald!” I turn around when I hear Matthews voice. Where could he be? Is this the time or place to play hide and seek?! “Yeah, stop it, Gerald!”, I continue. “I’m going back to get him, we’ll return in a sec!” I don’t like the idea, but decide to nod and sit down against the torn wallpaper until they pop up again.

It’s been a while now and I’m starting to feel sleepy. I know I shouldn’t, but can’t help it and slowly close my eyes. I can see the house, but it suddenly seems so far away. My friends are there, shouting for help. They are scared! But I can’t reach them. All of a sudden I’m in the house again, in the hallway downstairs. As fast as I possibly can, I run up to the first floor, to save my friends, but they aren’t there anymore. Then I feel it, a sharp blade cutting into my body. The pain is unbearable. I start screaming and open my eyes. The blood is dripping on the carpet. I try stopping it with my hands, but they soon disappear in the red fluid. Another scream escapes me, while the blade cuts me a second time. “You should have been a pussy and ran away while you still could!” I look up. Matthew is standing in front of me, with a big grin on his face and a knife in his hand, covered in blood. After that my eyes close once again.

I’m back at home, my mom is there too and so is my sister. We’re sitting at the table, eating lasagna. I love lasagna, it’s one of my favourite meals and especially when my mom makes it. She has a secret recipe for it, you know. I’m smiling, because I’m happy. I don’t say it often, hardly ever even, but I do love my family. They are the best thing that ever happened to me. They love me for who I am and don’t judge me for the mistakes I make. In the future, I want to start a family like that and be the father I always wished I had.

A loud bang interrupts my dream. It must have been the front door. I wake up and run towards the window. Matthew and Gerald are already outside, heading home. “Wait for me!”, I shout, but they can’t hear me. While I turn around to run after them, I freeze. Lying there, against the wall, is my own disfigured body. The blood covers my body like a cocoon covers a caterpillar. It wasn’t a dream. They did murder me, but when I’m found, people will probably believe the legends to be true, that the ghosts of the mansion took my soul and locked me in here forever. I should have run away when I felt something was wrong, but I believed evil to be part of the house, instead of part of my life.

“Don’t you worry child! You’re part of our family now!”

By Vig:
When we opened the door, in the hallway before us, we saw a pool of blood making its
way through the door. Not only were we terrified, one of my friends ran out of
the house screaming. It didn’t matter anyways, the remainder of us made a bet
before entering the house. Whoever won, would receive the others’ Halloween
candy for the next 3 years. Nobody could resist that offer.
I clenchedmy teeth and continued to walk in through the hallway, my other friends closed
their eyes, held on to each other’s clothing for guidance, and followed. Slowly
making my way in, I sprinted to the next room I could see and the others ran
after me as well. We decided to hold down our ground, not knowing what could be
lingering throughout the house. We decided to make a game plan and use the room
we resided as home base. The firstfriend suggested we try to look for clues and see where the blood was coming
from, if it was too dangerous, we would all agree to leave the house together
and forfeit the bet. I agreed, and the others hesitatingly agreed. The second
friend got up, and walked towards the origin of the blood pool. We followed,
not knowing what to expect when we came across the door from where it had
flowed from. The third friend opened the door, and we all peeked inside to
discover a bathtub full of blood, overflowing. We all were disgusted at the
sight of it. However, the fourth friend, whom I had never seen before until we
got into the house was not shook. He was a brave soul, or so I thought. As we
peered into the tub, nothing can be seen, not even a body. However we could
make out faint footprints of blood upon the tiles of the floor. We knew someone
was here, yet none of us wanted to think about it. I turned my head to look
toward the others, and found out the fourth friend was gone, along with the
second friend.
Me and theothers assumed they came together, since the other two were also not familiar
with the fourth. We made our way back to home base, and found a note saying
“your second friend is no more.” We all panicked, counting each other and
knowing something must have happened when we were all in the bathroom, that the
second and fourth friend might have been in trouble, as they disappeared from
our sights. BANG. We heard a loud noise and ran towards the sound. It was the
second friend, lying on the floor unconscious, or so I thought. Standing above
them was the fourth friend, expressionless as they just stood there. I was
speechless, flabbergasted, at the mere sight of the scene. I looked at my other
friends, they looked as if they had seen a ghost. One of them asked me, if I
knew who the fourth “friend” even was. I answered them “no, I thought you guys
knew them,” and they continued watching in horror. The second friend, was
indeed gone, lying on the floor while we stood helpless. We had a closer look
at the fourth’s feet. Barely making showing from their socks and shoes was
dried blood stains. Uponfurther inspection of the fourth person’s appearance, they looked much paler
than the third friend and first friend. The fourth’s skin was almost disgusting
in terms of  the way it looked.
Almost as if they were soaking in the bath for too long. Then, it dawned upon me. The
body we had not found in the tub might have walked out of the bathroom. What if
it was amongst us as we were coming into the house? None of us were paying
attention to the party who came with us. Was this why one of the friends ran
out of the house before we all realized it was all a trap? To take one of us
down? And for what? Some candy we collect on one special day? No, this was
plotted from the beginning, the fourth person was always here, waiting for us.
To pick us off one by one when we were each distracted, like the second friend
who wasn’t paying attention in the bathroom. They were easily swept away and
killed.
As soon asI figured it all out, I bolted towards the door. The other two froze for a
second, before doing the same. I ran through the hallway which now felt as if
it was getting longer and longer, until I finally made it to that sweet, sweet
wooden door to freedom. It was heavier than before, almost as if it was wet in
appearance and soaked up moisture around it. It definitely smelt like it too,
as I managed to open it back up, my friends were crying out for help. I saw
them continue to run towards me, and following was the fourth person, only now
they no longer looked human. It was as if that “thing” running after them had
the face and body of a human who was stretched so much, with such a distorted bloody
face. I was crying and screaming at them to hurry up! As I watched, I could see
the “monster” coming faster and faster behind them. Suddenly, as if a force
tried to push me away from the door, I was dragged out of the way of the door.
I tumbled around, and finally stopped, realizing it was morning, and I was on
the porch of the house. The door was closed and nothing could be seen from
inside. I could not hear anything from within. I panicked and opened the wooden
door, which was now dry and easy to open once again. Quickly I swung the door
open, only to find nothing. No trace of my friends, no pool of blood, no
monster in sight. Slowly walking in towards the room that was home base, there
I saw our sport bag with chips, water, and phone chargers, all of ours. I took
the bag, and ran out of the house once again, not looking back… wondering… was
anything I experienced that night even real?

There was a trail of human fingers leading to a hatch in the floor.
“Oh… my God…”
“Turn your flashlights off!” Anna hissed. I looked at her with a question in my eyes. “Whoever
did this could still be around and we’re better off not drawing any more
attention to ourselves than we already are.” She turned off her flashlight.
Her logic was sound, so my friend and I followed her lead.
With the light gone, all my other senses sharpened. None of us needed those sharpened
senses because the bang coming from beneath us was terrifyingly loud.
“I think we should leave,” said Alex.
“What, are you afraid?” I taunted without any heat behind it. We were equally terrified.
I pulled out my phone to illuminate a path to the front door. Its light not as harsh as
the flashlight’s. Anna nodded soundlessly and took Alex’s hand, who in turn
grabbed mine.
Another bang sounded.
“Okay, let's go.”
We made our way to the door and as I reached for the doorknob, the hatch opened with a
small groaning. A much louder screech sounded when I all but ripped the door
off its hinges. Anna yelled something that might have been “Run!” or just some
panicked vowels, and all of us shrieked for all we were worth.
My house was the closest, so we ran there. Once inside, I looked at my panting friends.
“Ladies and gentlemen, that is how you survive a horror movie.”

***Trigger warning***
My neighbours, whom I actually have never met nor seen, own this creepy so called “haunted house” in our neighbourhood. Me and my two friends have decided to walk inside during halloween, which is tomorrow, and I am so excited and horrified. It has been empty for a long time as far as I know and it looks like it is about to fall apart any minute because of its condition. It’s the morning of and I’m counting down the hours until my friends and I descend into the abyss of the unknown. All throughout the day I look out the window, and I can see the house – and movement from inside. Or what I deem as movement, but I know it’s my overactive imagination kicking in and it’s probably nothing. The night has fallen over the city and me and my friends are in my house preparing ourselves for the time in my neighbours haunted house. We have prepared a sports bag with flashlights, water bottles, a bag of chips and chargers for our mobile phones. I have told myself the whole day that I’m not scared of any ghosts and stuff like that, they don’t even exist! It would be fun to scare my friends though, maybe I should make something up to scare the crap out of them? The time has come, and we are making our way to the so called haunted house. We spend our walk to the house talking about what we might encounter and what we expect to find. I reach out to the door of the house, letting my hand rest on the wooden dark door, and as I open the door it made a loud creaking sound that almost hurts my ears and all three of us proceeded to walk into the house. We turned on our flashlights as we walked inside and one of my friends froze on spot, calling for us, and in curiousity me and my other friend walked over, to realise we made a horrific discovery…

As we walked through the half broken frame leading into the first room on our left, the terror struck me immediately. Daniel was behind me, still unaware of what he was to see because he had been scanning the place as he walked with me towards Ivory. Ivory’s eyes met mine with fear and shock. Before any words could leave either mine or Ivory’s mouth, they left Daniel’s. “Oh my g…” Daniel’s sentence trailed off as his eyes dilated to more than twice the original size. In the room we discovered a blood bath. The carpets were drenched in blood, staining all of our shoes, and when any of us tried to walk, we could hear our own feet sink into the floor. The walls and ceiling, they had been splattered with blood as well. It was like someone came into the house with victims and just sawed them all down with a chainsaw in this room. I felt chills up and down my spin, and I was in so much shock that I didn’t notice the smell until it hit me. All this blood must have been fairly fresh, people were murdered not too long ago. I covered my nose with my hoodies sleeve, calling to my friends. “Guys, this is something...serious. We have to get out of here, and tell someone,” I said as my friends looked at me. Ivory was nodding in agreement whilst Daniel replied in a tone I wasn’t expecting. “No. We came here for a reason, and we are gonna fulfill that. We can tell someone later about what has happened. Let’s see the rest of the house, if anything it will help us explain ourselves better if we go to the cops.” I had an eerie feeling about all of this. My gut was telling me not to do this, but these were my friends, I couldn’t let them down. I turned to Ivory, my face asking her if we should go. She just shrugged her shoulders, turning and following Daniel. I trailed behind them, scanning my flashlight across the area to see if I would spot anything new.
My body was shaking, but it wasn’t from the cold anymore. Deep down I was scared, scared of everything. Scared of what was to come. I had been walking slow enough that my friends weren’t in my sight, but I continued to search the area. I looked up and down the hallway I was in. The walls had blood smearing down across the planks of wood. It was as if someone was being dragged down the way, or pulled along and they had tried to stop themselves using their hands. I pointed my flashlight down immediatly, looking to see if there was a blood trail along the floor. I moved my light down the hall. Nothing was there at first, but the the blood began. It was about halfway into the hallway, and turned at a rapid turn on the corner. As the light from my flashlight got to that corner of where the frame of the doorway opened, I heard a ear-cringing scream. It was Ivory.
I ran. I ran towards where she screamed without thinking. If Ivory was in trouble, Daniel could be as well. I ran through the doorway into a room where parts of the ceiling had fallen through, and old furniture had begun to rot. I navigated carefully as fast as I could through the room into the room next to it. Ivory stood there with her face in her hands shaking. “Ivory, what’s wrong? Are you okay?” I came up to her, my voice shaking as I spoke. I didn’t have to ask because my eyes saw the horror before her words could explain. There in the middle of the room, and scattered around were bodies and limbs. They had been dragged from the first room into here. The smell was unbearable. It was so strong, I started to become nauseous and lightheaded. I grabbed Ivory’s arm, and tried to get her attention. “Ivory, we have to go now. This isn’t safe. We shouldn’t have come here in the first place! Where is Daniel?” She looked at me with fear in her eyes as she spoke, “I don’t know where he is. He just...disappeared. We walked into this room, and as soon as I saw...that. I screamed and tried to hide into myself. I’m sorry..” I knew we had to leave now, whether it was with or without Daniel. He could have been dead, even though I didn’t want to think about that, but we couldn’t risk our lives at this moment. We had to get help.
I grabbed Ivory’s hand, and we started to leave the house. She followed me silently, but I could feel the pulse in her hand racing. We had been walking for not too long when I hear a sharp slicing sound in the air, and I heard something drop to the ground. I began to pick up my pace, but I felt something trickling onto my hand. Ivory’s body falling into mine. Confused, I moved the light onto her. I screamed, louder than I had ever done so in my life. Ivory’s head was laying there on the floor next to me, her decapitated body in my arms. I shoved the body off me, shining the flashlight up towards the open area. There stood Daniel, a smile so evil stretched across his face, his eyes shining with pure mutilation. “Both of you are such fools. It got her killed first,” he said laughing. I couldn’t breathe, or move. I was stuck on the spot, shocked and my mind was racing. How could he have done this? How did we not know? I again felt lightheaded, just as if I was about to pass out. No, I couldn’t. So I only did what I thought I could do at this moment; I ran. I ran towards the front door to get away from him. It had been him all along! That’s why he wasn’t scared of leaving in the beginning, and wanted to keep going. My mind raced as so did my entire body. The body I saw passing by in the window earlier in the day had really been someone, and not just someone. Daniel. I kept running as fast as I could. Before I made it to the door, my feet slipped against the drenched, bloody carpet, and I landed face first. Blood covered my entire body, seeping into my clothes. I had no time to waste so without looking back, I got up quickly and ran to the door. I put my hand on the handle, and swung the door open, running out. I sprawled down the stairs, and my eyes closed for a second upon all the flashing lights. Everywhere cops had pulled up, getting out of their cars. “Freeze. Stay on the ground!” I heard them yell at me. Someone had called the cops, but who? I was too scared to move so I just stayed down. Cops ran into the house, and searched it. In the meantime, I was put into handcuffs. “Sir, I didn’t do anything wrong! My friends...they’re in there. One of them tried to kill me and my friend…” I was crying at this point as I tried to explain. The cop told me to hold on for a second so that they could finish examining the house. A cop came out, running towards the one I was with. “We have a problem. We’ve got some dead bodies that we identified as a younger woman and man in the first room, and tons of bodies that we can’t trace in the back room, sir. Murder for sure.” My eyes dilated. Daniel must have killed himself to put the blame on me, and make it seem like I had done this. And not only to help this, I was drenched in blood. My friends, they were dead. And so were innocent people. The cop that came over turned to me, eyeing me up and down. “This isn’t gonna look good in court kid. I hope you know what you've done is gonna cost you the rest of your life.” The prank that I thought I would pull on my friends, I had pulled on myself by just entering that house. A prank that would cost me my life. I got shoved into the car, and I looked at the house one last time before we pulled away. Someone was standing there at the window, smiling from ear to ear, looking at me right in my eyes...

I couldn't believe my eyes. We just stood there shocked with my friends, we weren't even able to scream. All those things felt so impossible for us right now. One of my friends fell down on her knees crying, other friend run away from the house..after that the door closed by itself. First we couldn't even understand the situation, after a long horrible shock I was able to gather myself again and went to check the door. We couldn't get out, this was bad. I went back to my other friend who was now crying even more, so hysterical crying. I finally felt bad and threw up myself on to the corner for seeing that horrible scene again. All that blood everywhere and body parts shattered around the room, first it was just a body, but now I also saw the head, hanging on the ceiling lamp. I almost threw up again and then the face turned over...somehow it all made sense, kinda. All the body parts were quite small, person of age from 10 to 12 years and definitely a boy. It was my own little brother, now I turned all white and fainted. Last few words i heard came from my friends mouth: "Camille..Camille..dont leave me.."My brother was found missing six months ago, my parents were devastaded. That broke their heart and mine too. Even when he was annoying and I yelled at him, but he was still my baby brother, the person I was also supposed to protect. He went missing after school, the teacher were last one to see him. He went to school with big smile, like always. He loved to be in there, he had friends and good grades, also he had such a good manners with others. I wonder why he wasn't like that with me. Guess it's a sibling thing. He always came home as soon as he was able to and always asked permission to everything, but that Tuesday...he never came home. We were is shock and many weeks i had to keep the house together. Even though I was suffering, but I had to help my parents as much as I could. In the evening before I went to bed I just couldn't hande it anymore and just cried. After six months we were getting better, finally. It had been rough time for us all, even for my friends. They loved Benjamin, everyone did. But now this was happening..I finally woke up with pain in my head, I guess I hit it while fainting. This headache felt horrible. My friends was next to my trying to check if I was ok and she was still crying hysterically. "Ca-camille...a-are you ok?" Marie asked. "Aaah..just little pain in my head Marie..I will be ok" I answered, but then I remembered what I just saw. Tears began to fall on my cheeks and I was shocked again. I tried to speak, but nothing came out. "I know Camille, I also saw him. I'm so sorry, I don't even know what to say or do", she said with the most consolingly voice as possible and hugged me. After our long hug I tried to get myself together again. "How are we gonna get out of this house?" I asked with low voice. "I have no idea, I tried to check the doors, but only ones open are the few inside of the house...plus basement." Marie said with a pause before saying the last word. "It seemed kinda scary to even look there, so I just came here to check on you". "How long was I out?" I asked. "Only like 10 minutes." We became quiet for a moment and I could only hear our breathing, but then.. "Did you just hear That?" Marie asked. "I did hear it, I think it came from the basement. I hate to say this, but..should we check it?" "I think we should check other places first to see if we can find our way out from here." "That actually sounds better", I answered. I tried to get up from the ground, but my legs were still weak. "Let me help you", Marie said and offered her hand to me. "Thanks", I was able to say quetly.  We started to check the house from the second floor first, but there was nothing. Just empty room, but the last room had a small box in the middle of the room. It looked really old and it seemed that nobody had touched it for a very long time. "Should we check that?" I asked. "Are you sure Camille?" "To be honest Marie, I'm not, but I don't think we have a choice in this situation. Marie hesitated before she decided to follow me in the room, I totally understood her. We moved there slowly, my heart started to race. I was so scared there would be something horrible. I took the box in my hand and asked: "You want to open it Marie?" She just nodded to me and slowly lift her right arm closer to the box. It felt like it took forever and my heart was racing even quicker now, felt like it would explode soon. Sweat was forming up on my forehead, I can't take this for much longer. Finally it was open and there was only a small note. We both tried to read it, but with no results. It was some kind of language we didn't understand. I took the paper and put it on my pocket, box I put back to where it was. It still seemed kinda creepy when I looked at the box when we were leaving the room. The green color on the edges seemed like those were..glowing. My mind must be overactive now. I closed the door of that room and now we heard a laugh. We watched each other shocked and tears were forming up again. The laugh wasn't natural at all, it didn't feel like it came from a human. Then that same voice started to sing a lullaby. "What the hell is that Marie? Where does it come from?" I asked as quietly as I was able to. "It doesn't come from here, should we even check where it actually do come from?" "I think that could give us the opportunity to get out, maybe there is a key where that sound came from or something to help us?" Even I was scared  to just think what there could be.We went to the first floor again and we were still able to hear the lullaby. "Goddamn it...it comes from the basement. I really do hate those.." Marie said with gloomy face. For that situation my reaction was the weirdest one ever, but I gigled a little. The lullaby stopped. Then we heard footsteps. I was sure there was something that would kill us right there, I started to sob quietly. I didn't want it to end here, I had to tell about my brother, I just couldn't hande this. Marie took my hand in to her hand and she squeezed it. I felt little bit better after it, but then the footsteps stopped and the lullaby came again. The lullaby was different now, it was very soothing. I started to feel so relaxed, all the fear and tension I had disappeared. I felt almost....happy. For a short moment I dozed. I was woken up by Marie. "We need to go there, something is happening to you" she said with very worried face. I nodded and we started to go down the stairs. Every step we took made a squeak sound, but it wasn't so loud. Lullaby was still going on, but even though we were getting closer it didn't get louder. I was on the last step and the sound from the step made a loud sound. We froze with Marie. The white figure stopped humming and turned it's face to us. It turned 180 degrees and the face was so horrible. It was pale white, with no eyes...just black holes. The mouth was crooked and wide open. It started to speak with low, creepy voice keeping a pause with every word: "I...only...wanted...to..love...them.." I started to check around and saw all the missing boys, even those who had disappeared years ago. That thing started to slowly get up from the couch, the body was as crooked as the mouth and as pale as white could be. It was horrible to watch. That thing even had one dead body on its arms, that body was my neighbor. It was now pale green and every part of it was kinda...puffy. It was disgusting to look at it, but anywhere I laid my eyes I saw bodies. My brains weren't working properly anymore. After few seconds it started to come closer to us, slowly. "Run", I said. "RUN MARIE!" I yelled now. We started to go back upstairs as fast as we could, I tripped once, but I got back up quickly. We didn't even check if it was following us, but we just run towards the front door. No idea what magic it was, but the frontdoor opened and we were able to get out of that house. We just run to my house as fast as we could. We were so relieved it was over, but the news i had to tell later..made me scared and sad. I looked over to Marie and she was crying again. At this time I woke up. It was just a dream? How was my mind able to do it? It was 10am on saturday morning and I called Marie to see what was going on, but she didn't understand me at all when I was telling the story.  I ended the call to get ready, I was supposed to meet Marie anyways, we were supposed to go to the jhaunted house today. Kinda scary after that dream. I had planned my outfit yesterday already and it was the same one I had in my dream. With a habit I put my hands on my hoodies pockets and felt something in there. It was a piece of paper...it was the same as in my dream. Then I just had to check what in meant, if it actually meant anything. I didn't know the language, it was some ancient language and it only said "You are next"

At the other side of the room there was a bear, a teddy bear. We all knew that the cutest teddy bears were the ones to be most evil. So we begged to any god if there even was one, that when it turned around - it would have an ugly, broken face. Just waiting for it to turn around. At this moment we were so scared that no one could move a muscle, and I believe I even stopped breathing. Then, it slowly turned around but before we could clearly see its face my friend Max ran away screaming. Me and my other friend Lance didn’t even look away for a whole second but when looked back at the bear, it was gone. Without really knowing what to do next we decided to go further into the house. Some people may have thought that it would be a good idea to split up, not us though. There was no way that I was gonna walk around alone in a house like that. We checked room after room, hoping that if we saw anything it would be an ugly bear and as we walked into the 6th room upstairs Lance froze once again. I walked over towards him and saw… nothing, as I hit my head and passed out.

......The floor is covered in thick red blood, not the real kind of course just the fake plastic crap from dollartree.
This pathetic attempt at scaring us is exactly what I was expecting.
If you look around theres the usual spider webs everywhere, bones, smoke, animal heads on the wall as ornaments, creepy old paintings.
When we checked out the basement it wasn't too bad, that witch was half believable,
the soda the witch gave us tasted really good, however I start to notice my tongue feeling numb, how unusual.
as we walk up the swirly creeky wooden staircase upstairs to check out more,
my friend Joe taps me on the shoulder, "Hey Kieren, you doing alright? you look like you're changing color, you're....getting really dark, and hairy"
I look at Joe frighteningly, realizing he's turning into an evil green ghoul before my eyes, then I look to my other friend Brian, who's turning paler than ever and growing long sharp teeth.
"AHHH WHATS HAPPENING" I SCREAM, as my transformation into a werewolf is nearly complete.
By the time the transformation is complete we are standing in a very dark attic filled with black smoke,
we see a glowing object in the distance, the door slams shut behind us and we look back out of reflex.
Scared as hell because we have no idea whats happening,
then this guy rides up,

& he's all like "would you like to play a game???"
we all proceed to scream and curl up into little balls out of horror nearly peeing ourselves.
...and the witch from the basement suddenly walks in through the dark smoke with the glowing object we saw in the distance.
The witch begins to say, "Well you little punks, I hope you've learned your lesson, don't talk SHIT about my haunted house or you'll get it! Don't make me do that again, I can't do that too often or I have to relocate, you're stuck like that until november 1st have fun kids!!"
