Help me to help you

Following the conversations from earlier today with various people, obviously something needs to be done to improve the overall experience on VP and clamp down on some fuzzy areas.

So.

What can I do for you?

By I - I mean not stuff relating programming etc.

I've already had some suggestions that I'll list in another post below which I think can be rather fun for players and in general I think I can implement to help the running of ENVP.

I've always been open to feedback and encourage it. I know that as of late I haven't' been as active as I have been in the past due to work and wedding planning. I WANT that to change. I want to be the inspiring admin that I was when I first got my badge those years ago and be there for my community - or set up things so if I physically done things run smoothly for the overall consumer - you guys.

@Vuitton

My first idea would probably be upping the amount of sets that are released, because people won't spend as many credits on buying clothes when more people have them. The more obtainable sets are, the better. - Teams are already looking to address this as confirmed by an ET member and a few SMT also.

My second idea would be adding more credits. Many have pointed out that the amount of money you pay for credits is too much, and that you get too little, but I'm not sure if this is just a result of the inflation that people don't have enough credits to buy items.  -Sadly I wouldn't be able to adjust this. Kaj is in control of the money and how much you receive for it. As for 'free credit' for obvious running of VP I can't be giving out large quantities of it.

More auctions, perhaps?
 I rather liked regarding doing forum auctions as I can close forums at allocated times. It would make sets more available however maybe run the auctions for 30mins at a go. That allows more sets to be ig and I can let it auto-run in the background and send out codes to those who won that auction once funds are transferred - all funds would then be sent to Kaj account and therefore taken out of the game and reducing the amounts of overall money.

@Eis
dea 1:
create a little team to help you out
1. if ur allowed u should making a little team who could help you when the workflow get's too much but also in general with how the site is managed, and trust me your probably the first admin who i actually see has put lots of time and effort into vp but i think in the long run you run a chance of getting burnt out with dealing everything urself
ofc a person can't maybe help in every department as some would require lots of training i would bet
however, i think there still are lots of tasks that could be passed onto your team (i'm speaking as if you would have on) meaning you have more time to think about your wellbeing
these tasks could involve approving stuff, helping make announcements, provide ideas for how to solve stuff before they escalate, come up with smart ideas on how to improve the community, make it friendlier, improve the layout system, create a smart way of dealing with how teams are being managed and much more
My issue before I start looking into this, is I need to improve my own communications with people and my team - the moderators, who will all agree I have a bad habit of doing something without consulting them. They are my team and I need to trust them more to help me with tasks regarding administration and moving the site forward.

I can admit when I'm wrong. Sometimes it just takes my girls to give me a kick in the head to realise <3

this is really bad to hear. like, i see you realize it's a problem, but holy shit this is not good at all and explains a lot of why vp seems so poorly run all the time.

everything that i do with my team as the lead mod on my subreddit gets signed off on by every team member before i move forward. that's like twenty people who need to say 'yes claire i agree with that move' before i do anything. i don't do ANYTHING without consulting my team. leaders arent' supposed to make choices, they're supposed to guide their team when the team makes choices.

I don't mean to show up with rude criticism but I don't think the mod team is visible enough, either some of the members are incredibly inactive or they're all online at the same time which seemingly is never as they are never around, ever. Why is that? Can that be worked with, is that something that could be improved? There have been several occasions were some conflicts could have been avoided if mods showed up as it was escalating.

Yeah I know it's an issue - gladly it hasn't happened too often for it to become detrimental to the website or directly impact anything that's going on. It's more external stuff to be fair also never stuff that is relevant to the running of VP.

Just to add to that - to my memory and I might be wrong it's only been the once.

@Snusmumrikken
Sadly it's mostly due to timezones and if people are actually busy and just idol online - or from what I've seen anyway but the feedback is always welcomed.

this is not rude criticism, this is just helpful to us!
we try to improve our work all the time, so constructed feedback is nice

i'd also suggest regular timed shopupdates with a dedicated designer (can change?) ?  like a high quality designer set every week that gets removed once the week is up and the new set is put in

if every week is too much every second week would work as well

maybe even have monthly themes for the regulated shopupdate and cooperate with the blog or news team to write an article on the theme/topic? i just feel like almost every team is kinda doing their own thing atm so the site as a whole doesnt feel too coherent

My only worry about that would be regarding design availability unless we had some designers do one off special sets - Pearl being an example since her sets are sad damn hard to get right now.

I would like to continue the month themed sets that @ad0xa started running. They are great fun and the sets are available too all users to grab. It's also been suggested to put some sets in for high amounts. The NT teams to team up with that so it would be nice to get more teams available if they are up to it. A load of NonD's also join in - so it's a chance for them to show off their skills also.

wedding planning omg, good luck with that

i've only been here for like 3 weeks, so i'm not really the right person to ask looking back at the long run. however, i can totally agree with what have been said in previous posts, i didn't even know there was a modteam before sweet hypoxic made a competition forum, which was really fun. so the modteam definitely needs some more attention and visibility imo.

what i think would be cool - as suggested by people before - a party team. @Vuitton  held an amazing party which really gathered people together. it was not about winning, it was just about having fun. everything has been a lot about rares, trades, selling and buying bla bla, so seeing that there was something you as a newbie could participate in, have fun, connect with people and still have a chance to win was amazing.

apart from that, i really enjoy being here and you - together with the other teams - are doing a wonderful job. thank you for taking your time to make this forum and listen to us!

i also think that designers should get more for their work than just their own set; i know its voluntary work but its debatably the most time consuming; it is at the moment more lucrative to send in your designs as a nondesigner (that doesnt mean i have a problem with the designer motivation)
i dont know what kind of reward would make sense tho bcs cr rewards could potentially further the inflation (and kaj probably wouldnt allow it lol)
