Behind the scenes we have been very busy with coming up with new things to make Virtual Popstar more fun, more interesting, and more challenging. We couldn't sleep for nights and I must say that we have some great Ideas!
I'm sorry but it is a VERY LONG LIST. We will introduce all the things below to you the coming 6 weeks on Virtual Popstar, you can read it if you'd like. Feel free to post comments if you have any additions or critism.
DONE Being able to battle
A player can battle another player. The other player has to be logged in with another IP address. When the player accepts the battle, they both will get the same 5 countries where they have to perform/take dance or singing lesson. Whoever accomplishes all 5 countries first will win the jackpot. (Jackpot depends on your rank but it sure will be worth it!) This is the 1st multiplayer concept. We hope to do more with this in the future but with games that have been made for VP only.
DONE Dance Academy’s
There will be a Dance Academy. These can be owned by Record labels. If a record label owns a Dance Academy, all members of that record label will get a part of the paid singing and dancing lessons from players in that country. A label will have to work together to own an academy, and they have to complete a tour every day to keep it. And there will be something where you can let a tour of another label fail. This is what we call the Sabotage Function. You can sabotage another player’s vehicle so he or she can't travel for a few hours. I won't tell you the details, but you will hear of it when it's done!
DONE Your vehicle wears off
Until now after you have bought a vehicle, traveling is free and your vehicle doesn’t break. This is going to be different. Soon your vehicle will wear down 1% every time you travel with it to another country. When your vehicle wears down 1%, your travel time will be 1% longer. There will be 2 options to restore your vehicle. You can keep traveling until your vehicle is 60% worn out.
Then it is too worn out to use safely and you will have to fix it before you can continue traveling. You can pay with popdollars or credits, that’s your choice. We will make sure that the maintenance fee will be less than what you earn with a performance. But of course the more expensive and faster your vehicle is, the more expensive the maintenance will be
DONE Releasing an album
You can release an album once a week. If you do this you will get to see a list with 7 assignments, one assignment every day for 7 days straight. You have to do an assignment every day in another country. For example: Give a press conference in China, or record a video clip in New York. Releasing an album isn’t free. If you skip one day, your album won’t be successful and you will lose it. If you complete your assignment every day your album will be a hit and you will get 5 times as many popdollars what you’ve paid for to bring out the album.
DONE Achievement ystem
There will be 6 categories with 5 different levels of record you can achieve; you start with a plastic record, then a bronze, silver, gold, and finally diamond.
The categories are:
- Number of days you have been online in a row
- Times posted on a thread
- Number of votes (not by vp players) on your voting link
- Number of new looks in a row
- Times responded to people's guestbook or blog
- Number of successful performances
You will see how many fans you will need for a new record. This ranges from 25 to 150 fans per day per obtained category. Your records will be displayed on your profile and on the forum. It is very cool when you achieve the maximum in all categories, records, and levels. Some things will remain, like the number of given performances. Other records you will be a
ble to lose, like the number of days in a row you have been online.
DONE Advertising campaign
Start an advertising campaign for your popstar. There will be 3 classes:
Spread posters, giving you 5% more fans per performance for a week.
Spread posters and advertise in a newspaper, gives you 10% more fans per performance for a week.
Spread posters and advertise in a newspaper and start a campaign on television, gives you 25% more fans per performance!
You will get the extra fans with every performance you do. Also for the single performances you do for the record label tour, but not over the bonus you get when you accomplish it.
If your advertising campaign has ended you will get a message with a summary of the total you have earned. You can also start a professional campaign.
DONE Wheel of fortune
Once a day when you have logged in, you can spin the Wheel of Fortune and win money or fans, varying from 10 to 10.000pd. You will also have the chance to win free credits, only when you have a manager or if you get one within 24 hours of getting credits. Everyone can win nice prizes even when you don’t have a manager, but you just can’t win credits.
SKIPPED:
Hotels and restaurants (instead we will add 3 new flash games to earn PD)
A popstar travels all over the World, and because of that you have to go sleep in a hotel in the country you are in at that moment. If you don’t, you will be exhausted the next day because the popstar had to sleep on the ground, thus the wait times are 50% longer the whole day. Also you have to dine at least once a day in a restaurant.
Finally there are 3 hotels and 3 restaurants in every country. Not everybody can just start a hotel because there will never be more than 3 hotels. You can buy a hotel when it doesn’t have an owner yet with popdollars. So anyone could buy it. If you own a hotel you get a part of the money that the hotel earns. If a popstar bought a hotel he or she doesn’t have to own it forever. A hotel has 5 stars when you start, but loses a bit of his stars every day, for example 0,2 stars a day. Also other players can hire inspectors, comparable with the paparazzi function. The inspectors are able to find weak points in the hotel. At some moment you’ll have to fix the hotel. You are only able to do that with credits. If you don’t the hotel will be available for other people. You can’t buy the same hotel again so others have a chance. Everyone can own a hotel without paying with credits and earn a lot money with it for 5 to 10 days if you own one. The same thing will happen with the restaurants, because a popstar has to eat too. You have to visit a restaurant at least once per 24 hours to eat, otherwise you’ll get exhausted. To own the restaurant is almost the same thing as at the hotels. In the beginning we will put less hotels and restaurant available because there won’t be many players, but if there are more players there will come a hotel and a restaurant in every country. In the beginning you can only create a own logo for your restaurant or hotel, give it a name, and maybe you’ll be able to expend it. For example, a gym so that the guests can choose to pay more to exercise and get fans for that. You’ll notice!
DONE Hall of fame on the statistics page.
A ‘VP player of the week’ which anyone can become. Every Sunday at 00:00 it’ll get reset. There are 5 categories:
Most social player, posted the most on the topics
Most reacted on others guestbook/blog
Longest online player, most hours logged in/online on virtual popstar
Player who gave the most performances
Battle King/Queen, (won the most battles that week)
Every player who will be at #1 will receive 50 credits at Sunday, 00:00 when it gets reset!
Edits at the shops/wardrobe
DONE> There will be a button added so you can take your clothes off all at once. It’s easier when you want to put a new outfit together, and you will not be able to save your model as naked, you must wear at least a top, pants or a dress. Haircuts and shoes won’t be necessary anymore (but you’re a wanderer when you don’t wear shoes, your choice).
DONE > In your wardrobe, at the shoes section and at the haircuts sections there will come a + and a – button, so it’s your choice if you put your shoes or hair on the background or in the front.
DONE > When you buy an item it’ll disappear out of the shop (you can’t buy an item twice).
DONE > The clothes in the SHOPS (so not in your wardrobe) will be at a different order every week (and then we hope of course that you – while searching more – also see more nice (credit) things and buy more, just like in a real shop where they change the order every week.
DONE > You will be able to sell your clothes back to VP or other players for both popdollar and credit clothes! But you’ll only get 50% of the price back, because worn clothes are worth less! So if you want to clean up your wardrobe, it will be possible soon! If you sell the clothes, they will be available again in the shops.
Edits at the forum/guestbook
DONE > There will be a limit of four quotes on the forum, guestbook and blog. At the moment we see like around 20-30 times a post, and that is too chaotic.
DONE > Perhaps you noticed, in the upper left corner, the spot where you can see the last 3 topics you’ve posted. When someone reacted AFTER you, the number of the reactions after you will be next to the title of the topic, like if one person reacted after you there will appear this: (1).
DONE > We are going to change the order of the reactions on a blog. The newest at the top instead of at the bottom.
> A new section on the forum, called the “Writers forum” for stories and poems. So this is different than the (O)RPG’s forum. So on the writers forum you can post everything which isn’t a (O)RPG.
DONE > A new report system. Like the report system on Facebook or twitter. You can see it on the forum, in your (private) messages and in the chat rooms. When you notice something which is against the rules you can report it through that button, and then the moderators get to see it and will take action.. If you’re misusing this you will get punished.
DONE > Under “Social” a new page, “blog statistics”. There will be a list with last 50 made blogs in order of date, the newest at the top. And also a top 10 blogs of the last 24h where you can find the blogs with the most reactions of the last 24h. Author’s reactions won’t count.
> At the Chat Lounge you’ll be able to see who’s chatting in the room. So when you click on “Chat Lounge” you will not be in the General chat directly.
DONE> A forum for the promotion team members
DONE > VP will automatically recognize when you’re on a normal computer/laptop or when you’re on a mobile phone/tablet. And if it’s needed, it will put the forum text input automatically to “simple”.
DONE > You will be able to block other players on their profile. If you are blocked, you can’t send any chat requests, messages, and he or she can’t send you popdollars or credits anymore so s/he can’t harass you in any way.
Some small edits:
DONE> Explanation about a group (like the moderator or designer groups) and a link to a page with a list of people in that group. You can get there by clicking on a badge (the blue with the white M in it by example).
DONE > You can see on profiles the last time that person logged in. (Just the date, not the time)
DONE > You won’t have to wait till your manager or lawyer end; you can buy more when it’s not ended yet. (And no, this doesn’t count for security. That would be too easy!)
DONE > You can place reactions to the daily news.
DONE > You’ve got to earn the promotion team badge. When you got 10 people registered trough your vote link you’ll get automatically a badge. When people delete their accounts and you’ll get under the 10 people you’ll lose the badge until you have 10 again.
DONE > When you are travelling to another country, you can tick a box if you want to get a notification when you get to that country. It is automatically turned on, but you can just turn it off.
DONE> On the statistics page will come a Hall of fame, like I’ve said earlier in this update-list. We will delete the top15 who lost the most fans and will put on that place a top 15 of the people who promoted the best via their vote link! Every Sunday night the best promoter gets 100 credits!
DONE > Twice a day you can have personal tour for people with a manager.
DONE > When you’re in a different country will change the upper side of the website, where the logo is at, it will change to for example when you are in China, there will be Chinese lanterns all over and buildings when in New York.
DONE > Online friend list on your profile, when someone is online it will be at the beginning.
DONE> On the record label you can see how much completed tours it has, and how much active members in the last 3 days the label has.
DONE > On the profile of a player you will be able to see when someone changed his username. (this player can hide it if he wants @profile settings)
DONE > There will be an option that you can also donate credits for fans. This is limit-less for everyone who wants to support us.
DONE> A badge next to your name when you are an owner of a record label.
DONE> On the home page will be a recent friends activities part. For example that you can see when Emma reacted on a blog from Lianne.
