I'm willing to garner hate for this, but I seriously hope that the show doesn't become even more politicised this year. I don't mind there being casual references and all, that's pretty much part of ESC culture to some extend. But depending how the situation in Europe will keepn on going, I really hope it won't end with an endless show of contestants making shoutouts to the events in the Ukraine and just voting for Ukraine for symbolism. Because that just has the potential of turning real bad for the image of the show and potentially even for Ukraine if they are winning because of sympathy instead of a majority decided better song.

(That being said, I don't listen to (or at least try to avoid) any songs before the finale airs, mostly because else I find the show just too boring. So no clue how they all compare to each other and what I personally would vote on.)
I get it and agree
But I feel like if Ukraine wins people will automatically assume this
eventhough the song is fire
and that makes me sad

just like when a song is actually good and the neighbouring countries vote and the knee jerk reaction always is "well it's the neighbours, they HAVE to vote for them"
honestly, there's no winning either way when it comes o this, when you have such a situation going on in your country

That came to mind a bit into the show, though we have been without guidelines for awhile, in was still a shocker..

We are some that still disagree with the dropped guidelines so.

How many songs are usually apart of a melodi grand prix? I feel like there was a very low amount of entries in the danish melodi grand prix

no i agree! it has always been political despite claiming not to be, countries biases are showing (especially cyprus and greece lmao). idc about people voting symbolicly, but i hope the juries will keep it professional. when it comes to ukraine's song it's the type that probably would be more appreciated with televoters than juries- that was the case in ukraine's national final as well, where kalush won the televotes but the jury placed it third. i mean who know where we are two months from now, but the contest itself is meant to celebrate peace and unity we don't need stuff like we saw when israel hosted
yeah, exactly. and not just that. I mean the whole thing during the cold war where all the ussr countries had to vote for each other and all that.
yeah, exactly, that whoel Israel thing was just a bit much. Like, I appreciate people trying to speak up about it and all, but it's still ... idk, there's a time and place for these things and since it's literally just a singing contest for the members of the european broadcasting union, I feel like that should be the general tone of it as well.
plus, I mean not to be that kind of person, but no matter how things are going to proceed, Ukraine will be in quite a bit of issues financially speaking. having them win and then forcing them to host the ESC after there having been a war ... it could ruin the country. There's a reason a bunch of the smaller countries don't participate anymore and there's a reason some countries really fuck up their economics just for the ESC. I don't feel like it's worth it just for a singing competition on the telly. I know I sound really pessimistic, but there is soooooo much more going on about this than just "showing people how unified Europe is and let them have some time to enjoy their lifes" when it comes to the ESC and all the planning and financing that's behind it
it definetly has a time and a place yea! but they won't be forced to host if they win, im pretty sure i've read that there are systems in place to help out/find other hosts if the winner isn't able to host whether it be economics, unrest or being australia.

ok, in all honesty, I feel like Halleluja and Rave might be the most ESC songs of all of them...
Let it go maybe too, but it's a bit too radio pop song

true, but there's a lot of prestige going on about beign the one allowed to hosting
like I know Luxembourg won two years in a row and the second time someone else hosted because Luxembourg couldn't or wasn't allowed to host twice in a row. but still being the hosting country is really sought after because of the implications it has for esc tourism and just tourism in general. there are ways to help them out if they can't host, but I feel like it really would take a country a lot to say on their own, that they don't want to host despite being the winning country

Sounds chaotic. our positive number have been over 10k for a long time.

Mm, not a fan of that last song. I'm rooting for hallelujah and the rave song for sure!
