they're def doing that - the same beat, lyrical formula and "noisy" chorus + eye catching outfits molded after whatever is hip on insta.
it was different 1gen ago, it was more "huh, kpop is weird" now it's "hype". seeing bts and blackpink at american music awards is top cringe.

superm??? what a fucking joke of a group. and i think it's rather disrespectful to even continue shinee as a band.
how is it disrespectful to continue shinee
maybe i'm just really biased and a bitter shawol, since jonghyun was the BAND imo. like it doesn't make sense w/o him. that's just my opinion.
they are doing really well without him, good evening was top notch
it will always feel like jonghyun is missing but the disrespectful thing is to insinuate that they can't be great without him?

yeah. it does make me a bit ? tho when people go on about how terrible the kpop industry is (which, i mean, it is) and say that's the reason they hate kpop, but then go on about how great 50s/60s pop music is when it was basically identical to how the kpop industry is run. or old hollywood films (although ofc these things don't exist anymore........ at least publicly/on the surface anyway.......... while the kpop industry is ongoing. ALTHOUGH the American pop industry is prob not a lot better rly. even now. they're just not so open about the exploitation that goes on)
People really think the western music industry is better- we

The kpop industry is also getting a lot better lately.
uhm yeah lol

and don't overwork their idols to the point they collapse, pay them less, don't give them creative freedom, have damaging diets, are colorist, restrict  their personal lives immensely, and  multiple other things that I've not mentioned
so many artists are driven to suicide

and I get that you're a big fan, based on how almost your whole identity on vp is around kpop, but please don't just excuse all this and practicaly be like "haha westerners are not better"
as someone who has been through abuse and really emphasizes with these artists, it's plainly upseting

I'm sorry to being angry about this, I don't mean to be rude to you in any way
but I simply believe we should strive for better rights in the kpop industry and just dismissing them by goung "america way worse" is not the way
I don't?? I have been through abuse as well and I don't stand for it. But I think I worded myself wrong, not everything is getting better. But some companies are. I'm not afraid to call it out, bc some contracts are pure slavery. I get that ur upset, and you have all the right to be.

for me its not as much the music, as the industry behind it

I do not support these near slave drivers
and it makes me despise kpop every time I hear it nowadays

(I used to be obsessed with it 2012-2015)
i get it with the industry, and i also think it’s very important to be critical of the industry and how it’s perceived. but whenever i see people saying they hate kpop, they don’t really offer a legitimate reason as to why, they just say they hate it, you know ?

Yep, exploitation is still very present in the western industries, it's just hidden better. But only kpop is dismissed completely because of it.

OKAY ONE MORE THING

White actors and artists wear pink and a little eye makeup and people go "omg he really said f toxic masculinity"

But when a male kpop idol do the same he gets called gay or that he looks like a girl

and though only vaguely related, people will be very anti-k-pop exploitation but turn a blind eye to the porn industry

ppl are really fast to dismiss claims of abuse and sexual assaults when it comes to their fav male artists. ... yet will cancel women for not fitting to their limited view of womanhood in general.

Should have seen how quick people cancelled Seungri

But yeah I agree with this, it's honestly sad

oh yh. it's because often people allow themselves to be much harsher and more critical about things they don't personally like. when it comes to something they personally like (or feel like is apart of their identity), they will bend over backwards to defend it by any means possible. I see it ALL the time lol

idk if AJR is even well known enough for this to be unpopular but: AJR is a fun band, it's just that their mediocre songs get popular bc theyre used for advertising/movie trailers
