 I notice things about singers and their techniques to writing sings. 

For example, Taylor Swift. Most of the songs she sings/writes are about relationships, which tells me that she is a passionate girl with a heart that needs caring. When she write a break-up song it's her way of telling her story and telling it to other people. To connect with others who are or might have been in that situation too.  I don't really like that she does that in my opinion but I do respect her and hers songs.

Then there's Bruno Mars. When he writes a song he tends to repeat a certain line or phrase within the song and again, I don't really like it but I respect it. I really connect with some of his songs and I'm a big fan of his but when I heard Locked Out of Heaven I pictured him going at it with some random chick in the music video but when I watched it he was up on stage with a big crowd doing his thing and I was surprised and impressed by that scene.

So yeah. Pick a singer and say stuff you do and don't like about him or her.
