Is anyone else kinda sad about Amanda Bynes? I'm old enough to have watched multiple celebrities crash and burn through the voyeuristic eye of the paparazzi, but I guess I didn't expect her to go that way. I grew up with her as a kid-friendly female comedian and actress, the girl from All That and The Amanda Show, though it's got to have been at least 6 years since I last watched either one. I remember her as silly and entertaining without shock and vulgarity. Let's not forget the importance of a good female role model. It's important for girls to have someone to look up too, but it's also good for girls and boys to see girls succeed in a society where girls are still undervalued as people and overvalued as sex objects, especially when that discrimination goes unnoticed.
Now she's posting topless pictures of herself on twitter while allegedly quite intoxicated, doing drugs in her car in plain view of the paparazzi, driving on a suspended license after a string of hit and runs, and judging by her twitter account she doesn't want help. And as a multi-millionaire, she can financially afford to continue spiraling down.
i don't know why i'm bothering to write this. I guess she just kind of feels like a childhood friend and I don't want to see her do this to herself, but there's nothing I can do about it. I probably shouldn't care. She doesn't.
Take care of yourselves, guys.
