Post ur gems
Ah Stolen Babies. Always what I'd imagine would happen if Tim Burton assigned SOAD, Amanda Palmer and Voltaire to collaborate on a score for a film lol
Anachronism wrote: Ah, The Dresden Dolls. Absolutely no thread about dark cabaret would be complete w/o them. They were by far the most popular act of the scene (unless we count P!ATD's AFUCSO which- while influenced and had the aesthetics for sure- was really more 3rd wave pop-punk/emo-pop and far more relevant in that scene).
This was the first song I ever heard from them. I was 13/14 and it blew my fucking mind. I had just never seen a female performer so angry and openly dysfunctional (I had yet to discover riot girl). I was going through a cringey "not-like-the-other-girls" phase so I found Palmer refreshing. She inspired me to quit shaving lol.
I had to look up "anachronism" in the dictionary. It's been my favorite word ever since. I'll always associate that word w/ the song too. I dont listen to them as much anymore but ngl, that song will always hold a special place in my heart.
