Still need to sort my thoughts lol
The crowd at a weekday afternoon screening was different than I expected. We were like 10 ppl, 5 men or like very male presenting and my lgbt+ dar didn't go off. The rest was 3 very obviously sapphic ppl (myself included) and one goth girl who was there with a man who laughed very hard at the bisexual boyfriend named thor joke. One of the 5 men left halfway through the film.
Still can't make up my mind about the film. I feel like I'm not horror movie fan enough to appreciate a lot of the easter eggs and references. I do get why ppl are horny for gillian anderson a bit better now but I don't think I'll ever appreciate her with the same intensity as other actresses (cough cough kate mulgrew, cough cough jean smart).
I feel like the film is so meta it hurts but at the same time it almost mocks you for trying to find motives and allegories and tells you to stop thinking so hard and enjoy.
One thing I am certain of is how much I loved the production value. So many handcrafted details and traditional film-making techniques.
