3 was chosen because in my favorite cartoon, Steven Universe, there are currently three Diamonds ruling over Homeworld -- Yellow Diamond, Blue Diamond, and White Diamond.

13 was chosen because it's my age -- and the age that I was when I first got a royal Oreo blizzard from Dairy Queen, which is now my absolute favorite type of ice cream/milk shake/etc. I've ever had. Hopefully it's the age I'll get my ears pierced as well.
