"My child."
The words, barely a whisper.
The voice, commanding, sinister; yet somehow warm.
"My dear, it's time."
Time for what, you wondered. You had been having this dream for weeks now.
The woman, dressed in red, standing at the edge of your bed. Silently crying. Tears of blood.
It had been terrifying at first. But as days had passed, you had come to find her presence rather comforting.
She was there, every night. This was the first time she had said anything.
"Come with me, child."
In spite of yourself, you found yourself compelled to obey.
She seemed adamant, like she had something important to show you.
So you rose, tentatively taking a step towards her.
"Do not be afraid, my child."
She reached out her hand, beckoning you to come closer.
Coming face to face with her, she reached out to stroke your cheek.
"My child, finally we will be together again."
Despite the words, alarming to anyone else that would have heard them, you felt no fear.
This was right where you were supposed to be. Here. With her.
You took her hand, and soon enough, found yourself in complete darkness.
It was a darkness, so dark, you had never encountered anything like it before.
Still, you felt no fear. The woman, no longer crying. Holding you tightly. Together at last.

After that night, you never had that dream again.
In fact, you never dreamt again at all.
That night, it had been your time to go.
Plunged into eternal darkness, taken by the woman in red.
