i suppose we are all touched differently by our experiences with cancer and all view it differently, but for me and my relatives they don't want to be celebrated with a reminder of cancer or how they look different from everyone else, they just want to get back to their normal life and stop being seen as sick or defined by their cancer and its effects.

My grandmother died of stomach cancer the year before I was born, and my little brothers best friend died of leukemia. He died when I in grade 8 (two years ago), they were both in grade 5 I believe. His name was Eric, his sister Ivy is a year younger then me; she goes to the same high school as me. I wish cancer was never a thing.

Yeah, they just want to be treated like everyone else. At the end of the day, we're all people, no matter what illnesses or other things we may have.
