Well if it's not the one you want, you can sell it for credits and make back the amount you spent on sponsor 
It has to be very popular for people to be willing to pay 100 credits for it though

Sponsor items are no longer worth 100 credits each because you get a set each week. If there are 7 items in the set than each item is worth about 20-25 credits. If there are less items in the set than each item is worth more.

That is true, especially now that over 40 people have sponsor. There just not worth as much as they used to be.
