Dear Mother and Father,
The everyday life of Hogwarts and Slytherin has been an adjustment. My fellow students act like the name Dawson means nothing! When I introduced myself as Scarlett Dawson, they didn't even bat an eye? It is clear that a witch has to work hard to build herself a decent reputation around this place. If they only knew which ancient pure-blood family they were dealing with, ha!
I am already receiving good marks, and I believe you would be proud of me, Father. Potions is tough, but I believe I'll get the hang of it soon. Although, I rather enjoy Herbology. That's surely after you, Mother!
As for Sir Wobblemush, he is better than ever! I don't see much of him these days, but I reckon he's off somewhere with the other cats. The poor creature deserves some company of his own kind. Although perhaps I should make sure he actually gets the tuna he likes by the House-Elves. Sir Wobblemush is way too picky for his own good.
I have gotten a new friend too, in a very curious way. Someone mistook Mary for me! Mary has brown eyes like me, and long black hair as well! I think our noses look nothing like the same, though. Hers is way bigger, and mine is much pointier. Other than that, though, we look much the same.
Before I go, I should mention that everything is fine with my wand. I think the Ebony and Peacock Feather 11" wand was the right choice for me after all. The Defence Against the Dark Arts professor thinks I'll do well with the wand when we're learning about patronuses in a few years. I hope my patronus will be a cat!
