I also like that it's a hunt- I am not complaining about that. It's just the fact that It's difficult to find the information in time that bugs me. Nothing else.
If possible inactivity is a problem.
Then just make it so that those who are unactive for too long gets deleted and have their items go on auction or just out to random other people who don't have the items and want them like they do with people who have died. I've seen other websites do that so why can't this?

also something you said earlier abt it being unfair is a bit ??? because really if people aren't active enough to know what to be looking for then it's pretty likely whatever they claim will end up stuck in their wardrobe unusable by others bc they lost interest.
