Basically because of custom I suppose. Because in Denmark it's acceptable to call such relatives by name, while in Singapore that would be considered rude I guess. But also, it's just what I've grown up with.

oh when im talking to her I just say her name tho lol
tho my grandparents on moms side I say mormor and morfar, but my dads parents I just call them by their name too. weird relations

Yeah my mom has 6 and my dad has 8 (could be 9 lol) and they all married. Pretty typical amount back then.
