But I think according to their contract they weren't allowed to leave - The psychologists and the people taping it kept an eye on them.

Ok yeah practically the guards and prisoners were coached to behave a certain way before the experiment, to behave in line with the conclusion zimbardo had written beforehand

Yes in a way, but nobody has ever been able to recreate the same stuff happening either in the same constraints of the original experiment

Pretty sure they chose the guards because they had that sense of sadism to them during their interviews
