Its a PHD where you start in your masters, so the last year of the master is actually the first year of your PHD. This also means that you won't finish your masters at the same time as you were supposed to (idk if this makes any sense what so ever) 

... but I mean a lot of people apply and my grades are... not.. perfect.. to say the least so yea, prob won't get it but it can't hurt to try

also yea it can be kinda confusing, but a lot of professors prefer it to ordinary PHD because it's cheaper and easier, as the student is already connected to the uni
