show interest in what theyre saying! they might be a bit shy at first, so asking about something they like is a good way to begin a conversation
do an activity with them, drawing, playing, making something etc
and let them get to know you

yes ... this is what i read on wikihow as well .. omg i can barely have proper conversations with adults maybe children will be easier

at that age you honestly just talk to them as a regular person u just constrain the topics to things that kids like n are appropriate for them

more likely than not theyll drive the convo as well

Thirding this super hard
I was workin with a lot of first to third graders as a part of my previous job, and I got to hear a lot of "omg you're so fun to talk to" just because I treated them as everyone else. Like it feels like the bare minimum but most of the time they're still being babied by a lot of ppl at that age, they just want a normal conversation buddy to yap with and who actually listens
