They made an official statement on the momio company website as well as on instagram, and multiple employees are commenting on peoples post on the "Bring gosupermodel back!" facebook page. So... apparently it's legit.

I'm quite happy. Reading this forum a lot of people seems to think it should just stay dead. That website meant a whole lot for me growing up, and I'm really excited to see it return. Of course I don't know if it'll turn out bad or disappointing, but what's the harm in trying. If no one likes it they can just stop using it again. But for me it would be like watching your old favourite tv show again...yeah it isn't perfect but it still brings a lot of joy and comfort from back in the day. Maybe I had a better experience than most. Idk. I also lost a ton of good online friends when the site closed...and I've never really found a platform where I could make the same kind of connections. VP is probably the closest I've found but it also has it's flaws as with most things.
To me it feels like rewatching old disney/nickelodeon shows with the expectation of it being as good as it was back then, but realizing it was actually very different than you remember because you were a child back then and just feel a lot of nostalgia
I just don't get it. Isn't VP pretty much the same thing as GSM was back then?...outdated repetitive games, customizable avatars, forums, "levels" of fame, shops, design competitions, profiles, friends and so on....I don't see the big difference to be honest. So I'm not really afraid of getting my childhood nostalgia memories crushed. I wouldn't even be on VP now if it wasn't because when GSM closed I tried to find a similar thing. I know GSM was flawed...but so is VP. I just think it would be fun and harmless to revisit. I'm an adult now...It's not gonna crush my world if it's not "as good as I remembered"   I also hope that if they do want to bring the site back, that they actually change some parts of it and try to make it a newer more well functioning modern version of the old site, but keep some of the old charm. I don't think the site will do well long term if they just relaunch a 7 year old website.

Exactly! I don't see the big difference tbh...to me VP is pretty much the same or at least very similar to what GSM was back then...or at least the general concept and functions. So I don't really get why people are on VP if they think a relaunch of GSM would be extremely disappointing...because in my opinion VP isn't exactly a "better" or more "modern" version of what gsm was back then. I think it's pretty similar. So I'm actually a little confused haha

if it's actually bought by that group of overly excited folk that just want it back, hell
if they know anything about managing and running a site, code, and all that good stuff, that's great, but if not like... it takes more than goodwill to run things, what about the designs? do they have the rights to them? are they even still there? if not, what about designers? what about the games from the past? they're all outdated and flash is a bitch, so many and maybe too many technical issues that might pop up,
It might be easy or not really after, and if they will try learning but if not, or not properly, they'll just run it into the ground and if I was a fan I'd rather it stay dead than ppl attempt to revive it and fail.

The fact they are trying to revive a site that's long gone since 2016 and its activity will mostly rely on the older user base to come back... it's just really blind optimism.
As we can see on vp, we barely have any ppl that stay here for long enough and unless you're from around those times, almost nothing will compel anyone to go to an old site like GSM the same way we see that vp gets barely any new users.

Why ES is doing better though? it's actually modern, has a very young userbase, everything there is very updated, and while I in no way praise that shit ass site and its management and owners, they do some things better and this is why they are very much active, and thriving(in toxic waste that is, but thriving).

It's okay to hope but chances are, even if it WILL come back it'll either be a very short revival, or the site will remain functioning for a while and die since there would be no new members or threads, I can imagine that people will try reconnecting, talk about the nostalgia, let it be the drama, wardrobe or anything specific, and then what? it'll be a husk of its past days.

me? a pessimist? how did you know...
HOWEVER, as I like ambitious people I would like to see them try and can only hope it won't die too quickly,
and see how they navigate this... "passion project"

Where do you get the idea that fans bought it? From my understanding it's still the same company that's trying to revive it (if that's actually the goal here...they haven't really said much)

I tried reading up the thread again to see if I missed something, and ofc my dyslexic ass DID misread something
guuuh

If Momio's company is buying this, what profit are they actually expecting out of it? the entire thing I wrote minus the first part regarding knowing how to run a place still stands lol
