We do it because we used to ahve smth both 1st and 2nd Christmas day.
1st because my grandparents on my dad's side weren't at our place for Christmas eve usually they started joining when my grandmother died and dropped the thing for 1st Christmas day. 
And my grandparents on my mom's side used to have smth 2nd Christmas day - Until my grandmother died 
And it was kind of boring not having anything at all, so we decided to have some arrangement for our family and my so-called bonus mom
