Yes exactly, that's also what my parents said when the guests had gone home. "Either we do proper presents otherwise it would be better to not give each other gifts at all"

He is just a bit weird, and very frugal even though he has no reason to be that frugal.

Yes it was nice. The most heated moments were when my granddad told off my uncle because my uncle can be too much sometimes. A lot too much

Ouf! But they ended on good terms? 
It's always like that. Since my uncle has become better he has turned back to his old ways of being better knowing than everyone else, plus he is a former alcoholic and has started drinking at events again he just drinks way too much.

But today it wasn't as bad as it has been the past few family gatherings so that's nice.
And my sister got so very happy for my presents for her as I expected - I was pretty excited to give at least one of them to her
