It does matter though, you get higher rewards for reaching higher levels.

the level reward in gM per level after LVL 1 is  ~20gM per level without bonuses. depends on how many bubbles you have left when you fail.

For getting to level 2 with 100% game fame bonus from leveling up, I get 20gM and 120fame.
