Yeah, it really is.

If the exam is anything like the old ones, then there will be twenty short questions with different statements where you have to choose the correct one, ten questions with an explanation of a legal term which you have give the name of, and then five big case-type questions, where you have to use the lawbook to refer to chapters and paragraphs.

I know you've struggled with the decision of whether to quit or not, so I'm glad you've come to a conclusion. If this is what you want and feel is right, I don't think you'll come to regret it later. Plunging straight into the unknown is scary, but if continuing is only making you miserable, then quitting is probably the right choice. No matter what you choose, I'll support your decision. Even if it might not feel like it now, I'm sure everything will work out well in the end.
Oh, so more of a "know the facts" rather than a "discuss and back up your research" one then?

Yes, me too. And as I said, this just feels right, and I'm ready to finally close this chapter and see what the next one brings! It will be scary, and I will have insecurities and down periods, but as much as dancing has hurt me mentally the last few years, it is not worth fighting for anymore.
Thank you <3
Yeah, I mean, since it's (economic) law exam, the lawbook is your best friend. It basically has the answers to all the questions, you just need to know where to look and be able to find things quickly. We'll have five hours to do the exam, which I guess sounds like a lot, but I'm kind of worried about there not being enough time. I'll just have to try to work through it as quickly as I can.

As they say, "When one door closes, another one opens". I know dancing has been and still is a huge part of your life, and there's nothing stopping you from continuing with that if you want to, without the pressure of attending a school for it.
Just remember to breath, and if you're stuck and can't find the answer to one question, don't dwell on it for an hour and just continue with the next one. You can always go back and answer that one when you have finished the rest. I wish you good luck, and I believe you can do it!

Exactly. But when I quit I think I'll need a break for a few months to distance myself from that world and figuring out who I really am when I don't identify as 'a dancer' anymore. It would have been nice to have that degree and be able to call myself a professional, not gonna lie, but I can't do 8 more terms, it's just not possible. Dance will forever be a part of me and my identity, and I will definitely take some classes now and then when I've gotten over the initial shock of quitting the professional path.

I completely understand that. It will probably be hard during the first period, but as time passes, I'm sure you'll figure out who you are and what you want to do. Just don't stress about it, take your time. See this as a chance to grow as a person and get to know yourself, and don't be worried if it doesn't come to you immediately.

Yeah, have had it for a few years and it's just the same again and again, lol. But I'm also kinda sick of dance in general so...
40k words...?! That's insane. I've never had a project that big before, lol, the perks of being a dance student and not actually doing full on academics. Like the essay I'm writing now is supposed to be 2000 - 2500 words, and that's on a BA level.
Ah, I see. 4 - 6 am is the perfect time to do schoolwork tho, lmao. But good job on actually finishing that project, and with hours to spare. I'm impressed! What was it about?

And it will!
haha, #life

If I rewrite it you might get the chance to, haha!
Well, in that case doing a dance major may not be the best idea? Do you have any options of trying something else for a while?
Yeah... It's a project every danish student has to make in the final year of gymnasium. Basically you have to choose two subjects and a topic, and then you'll get a personalised writing assignment. You have roughly two weeks from you get the actual assignment till you have to hand it in, and it is the dread of all students (though I actually kind of liked it..) But you usually have to write between 30 and 40k words and everything has to be super academic with a shit ton of sources and the like.
Well, our normal assignments were about that, max, as well, it was just this crazy one called SRP that was different.
It really is, I honestly think I wrote most of that project between 22pm and 4am, everyone thought I was insane
I wrote in math and history about navigation in the 16th century, the discovery of america and it's consequences, as well as doing some mathematical proofs and calculations based on historical evidence and the type of math you use to calculate your placement from the sun.
I actually wrote a blog article a while back that covered just a tiny bit of the paper, it's here if you're interested

Yes. I looked at special days and now I might have an idea...

Please do!
What I'm currently strongly considering, is to drop out and work until maybe autumn 2020... But as much as dance isn't giving me any happiness at the moment, it's hard to let go when that's the only reality I know. Like I've danced for 16 years now, where the last 7 years have been full time with absolutely no life outside the dance studio.
Wow, that's actually insane... You only have two weeks? oh my. We have something similar in Norway that usually have to be about Norwegian literature (which I didn't do, 'cause dance), though I don't think that's nearly as big (might be wrong) and usually you can work on it for like six months.
Haha, but I'm totally the same!
That sounds interesting, gonna make sure to give that blog post a read.

That's great! See, it didn't even take that long, haha

Ok, I will!
I really get that, it must be kind of terrifying to even consider stopping or just pausing it. But if you drop out, you'd still be able to dance on the side in your spare time. That way you might find out if you're missing doing it or not.

It really is, that's why it's considered the hell of gymnasium. At least we get to somewhat choose the subjects and topics ourselves, that helped a lot to make it bearable. But yeah it's super crazy, you're basically off in this writing trance for two weeks up to Christmas.
^^ And if you want to you can get the full 40k characters version as well :*

Yeah xD
It's nice when it actually happens like that

It is the most terrifying decision I've ever had to make, but as I just said to Bloom, I feel like I'm at the end of this chapter and that I need to stop in order for me to get on with my life. The last few years there have been so much more pain than anything, and I just can't take it anymore. I don't feel like it's worth it pushing myself for something I'm not burning for anymore. Dance will always be a part of me, but I won't become a professional dancer.

Haha, I definitely get why that nickname! I see, but it still sounds like hell, ugh.

Haha, yeah
