you might get to, but u would b surprised how many people don't
the username tier is only an extra ladder to leech money from ppl. and like. if u believe in their campaign, then the site is supposed to launch next month (note: as someone who does coding i doubt they will). why not wait?
why do you doubt it? they have parts of the code, its not like they are starting from scratch?
with all the stuff that has been discussed in this thread i have very few reasons to trust the company. then again, i'm very anti-corpo due to all companies recently raising their prices to kick the low earning ppl's asses, so any tricks like locking usernames behind a paywall makes me furious. they are quite literally preying on ppl's nostalgia driven hype w that kinda bs, someone here only a few pages ago posted abt how someone is spending the money they should've put on food in this project instead
parts of the code only do so much when the site even according to their own words is in no shape to run currently. with that said it's likely that they have the easiest bits of the code on hand, and thus have to somehow build the roughest code from scratch in time to be delivered on december, which would take immense amounts of crunch which in return depending on how many devs they got on board can b extremely taxing on their mental health. there's very few positive things i have to say abt all this, if any
i also work in tech and i'm definitely in agreement with you. seems like a cash grab and if they do deliver a functional website by december, i'm guessing there will be bugs and insecure code all over the place. things have drastically changed with coding and tech in the past 10 years
