i think bringing something is nice gesture when ure not splitting the bill on the food but then someone could also argue why r they inviting me over for food if they expect me to pay for it in the first place but dunno i think nice gesture i would be happy if someone brought something anything if they r eating for free at my place..............................

I find the difference bein
"Im makin dinner nd u r invited" vs "we shud have dinner together" bcus the ladt one then ok u r both in on it u shud both contribute
If I make dinner nd invite someone, me expectin to do evrythin myself, I dont want them to bring anuthin like this on me, my treat
Does it sense..

i think its just as nice of a gesture to potentially offer to help with the cooking or help cleaning up afterwards etc u dont have to bring anything or spend money

i think so yes!! maybe this is why i felt friend inviting me for dinner felt so off putting like i wasnt sure if she was makin us all dinner (or worse if her bf was.. apparently hes a good cook but um... awkward...) i changed it to lunch plans tho so now i dont actually have to worry about this but i worry about it for the future
