yeah because??? from what i've seen.. moderation just causes issues here. with the youtube star restriction, anyone doing things like discriminatory behaviour would just be downvoted and lose their rights

It could very easily be abused, but so can the mod position. It would still be necessary to have someone who can lock threads or remove posts though. Maybe a mod team comprised of users who have been nominated/elected by the community?
