Yeah that might be my quick learning and the affinity I have for linguistics, but definitely a language in the same tree as your native would be easier 
As someone who learned 3 languages and now learning a forth one, I whole heartily believe that it is possible and always push ppl to study languages
knowledge is power and languages is one of the best things you can learn to communicate with as many people around us as possible

i love language and language löearning, sadly i have little like motivation and insentive + real world application for another language which both makes it harder to learn from day to day use and to stay up to date with it, but absolutely with some dedication its doable and probably not even technically that hard??? its just about really commiting to it...

It can get really hard at times, yeah, not even due to the learning process itself but things around as you wrote, I even have days where I wanna bonk my head against the desk and not learn but I push myself, mainly because my goal with it is to know the language of the country I moved to, as I believe all that move to a different country MUST learn the language,  HAVE to, and well, I want to talk with my new parents about anything? like I like em so much and I just had a convo with em 2 days ago at the evening for an hour and I thought how it'll be if I knew the language fluently... dream

I believe that when you'll be able to, financially and time wise, and ofc in the right mindset for it, it'll be more than possible and you'll achieve it
