i was ish looking at the phd thing and i aha ra ra but also i have a headache and i'm trying to learn 50+ words in a foreign language so it makes sense i aha ra ra
do you need to learn all those words by tomorrow?
I should be at least familiar with them because we are going to play some kind of game? in the group thing and it's based on that vocabulary but i don't think they except it to be flawless
i know that báidi is genser but idk if it's in the shirt (skjorte) way or in the sweater way because they also had another word which i feel is more in the sweater sense because t-báidi is t-shirt
ohhhh
are there more you can lean on conclusions like that in order to help you? leaning on logic is my way of learning things, but you might be the pugge type ?

i think i'll ask if i get the opportunity, it could be merely dialectal because a lot of things in northern sami is like that and i think i'm aiming for the western one because the majority of the teachers speak that and i don't have any reason to pick either of the two major ones anyway because i'm not sami

that's quite different from what you were doing
indeed
a complete lifestyle change
do you think it's more right this time?
i sure hope so. but i've only barely started, and it's a lot to adjust to at the moment so it's hard to really gauge how i'll feel about it long term. i decided i was going to study law almost two years ago, and i haven't lost the interest yet, so i suppose that's a good sign. but it's a whole different world actually going through with it, so we'll see

yeah you'll probably get a clearer picture of it as time passes, is it 3 or 5 years?

it's northern sami as a foreign language so the programme is kind of meant for people who don't know anything, but as far as i've understood only one other person have no ties to sami, the rest are sami in some way or another and they have often had some of it in kindergarten or school before so the words aren't completely new to them, for me if it's like not similar to finnish and outside my finnish vocabulary it's all a mystery
according the online dictionary báidi means both sweater and shirt, while buser only means sweater

i'm on a 3 year course now, but i'm planning on doing 5, if i get in to a masters programme
i'll need 5 if i'm gonna move on to become lawyer or judge or anything of the sorts

i assume you want to become a lawyer or judge and not just take it to piss around for 3 years, i don't really see what else it is useful for

i see i see
i'm sure you'll solve the mystery as times goes on

then the question is, is it used as both sweater and shirt on practice as well, or is it just the dictionary suggesting it as a possible translation

i think they explained that the dictionary lists the most frequent use of the word first but i'm unsure, in that case i think it's more shirt than sweater
