theres always been a big sexism problem in fandom yes but theres also so much naunce to the topic i tend to just sorta stay out of it
id love to hear more of your thoughts on it..
tldr:
- fandom has a huge bias towards men and gay men
- this bias also contributes to fetishixation of gay men so its very much a case of sexism being bad for all genders
- you cannot ignore that part of the reason gay men dominate in fandom spaces is because it allows women to fixate on media without any major connection to the male gaze n real life misoginy etcetc
- part of issue is lack of adequate protraial of women in media to begin with
-part of the issue is also just like non nuanced sexism and people finding women "boring" bnecause their sexist
- i also feel personally conflicted about the issue because i tend to fixate on men n gay men too but i am also a gay man n i feel like im sorta allowed to, but i also think everyone has inherent sexism in them and there is no way that doesnt affect my own media consumption
i just cant like articulate all of it in a good n cohesive way
this is interesting and i very much agree
