My Grandfather had a horrible, horrible cough in January of 2010. After months of my grandmother and grandfather trying different OTC medications for it, they decided that it was time to visit a doctor. Originally, they diagnosed him with Pneumonia and gave him medication for that instead. Nothing had improved then after a month so they went back and the physicians did more tests to find out my grandfather actually had stage three lung cancer. No one told me until April and was actually three days before my 12th birthday.
It was the first year my grandparents didn't attend my birthday party. I remember going down there that same summer of 2010 and having to go to the cancer center four to five times a week for chemotherapy and other treatment the entire summer. I saw him begin to wither away. Losing weight, hair, and motivation. My grandfather had never been a religious man, but that changed after they began to see that the cancer was spreading and closing in on his heart. Summer vacation turned from camping, fishing, and visiting amusement parks; to chemo therapy, church, and staying inside for Grandpa.
I loved my Grandpa though. I was his world and he was mine. I spent every summer and spring with them and every other Thanksgiving and Christmas. We were all so so close together. When he went back to schedule his next round of chemo, I remember accidentally walking into the room and seeing so many cords and IVs and so much medical equptment attatched to him and i just started crying. i made him cry that day.

to stop myself from droning on (im sorry) he passed in februrary of 2012. he couldve made it longer had he deicded to continue treatment and ocme up to a larger facility like chicago instead of the small town cancer center. he died at home though but not because of the cancer. his heart actually just burst and i remmebr
god my uncle went to go visit him and i feel horrible because of the sight he had to see. my grandma called my mom syaing that there were police and ambulance all around the home and she was so scared. i was playing video games with my older brother when we started to hear my mother cry
we went into the kitchen and daddy was holding mom and momma was just sobbing. she told me grandpa was coughing up blood and that i had to pack everything up right away so we could start the 12 hour drive to alabama where my grandparents were.
i remember crying and throwing things in my room as  i packed up and just feeling so distraught. it was 11pm by the time my dad, younger brother, mom, and i were in the car. as soon as the car started my mom got the call confirming my grandpa didnt make it. he died in the ambulance.
that night was the first time i saw my dad cry. he got out of the car and cried and threw the trashcan across the street and tried to calm down before he came back into the car

im still not oer my grandpfa . im 17 and he passed when i was 14. i miss him so much and i fel like i took some of those summer games and fun activities for granted. none of us expected him to come so ill. no one evr did

My aunt was diagnosed with cervical cancer half a year ago, it was found early. Her hair is finally growing back.
My grandmother died 5 years ago because of ovary cancer. Breast cancer  definitly runs in the family ,some of my mom's nieces had it too.
