I definitely understand that. And it really can be a struggle to find the balance. But in cases like this I think it might be better to hint very strongly at it or tell him straight out so he isn't wasting his time and getting his hopes up, now that he hasn't taken the more subtle hints.

Ahah.. Whenever ppl knows other ppl with the name Kofod(no matter how it's spelled) they ask if we are related, because apparently it's not the most usual name? And no one knows how to spell it, because the most usual way to spell it is 'kofoed' or 'koefoed' 

It certainly is, that's also the moment I decided, that he was too annoying for me lol
