i kinda disagree with calling it bullshit, even at my big company we have outages and crashes and sometimes a dumb automatic update causes a crash that we aren't aware of for hours. it could be a variety of reasons. putting all of IT management on one person is a horrible idea and i'm feelin for the dev rn cuz he probably doesn't have time to investigate everything and do the server management and try to develop new features on his own.
