when i asked her if we could throw it away, she said that it belongs to her boyfriend. they probably brought it with them from his apartment when he moved in. and that he had gotten it as a gift

it makes a bit more sense, since it's not really her's to throw away

but if she's worried about throwing away a gift,
wouldnt it be weirder if the person who gave it to them came over and saw the bag?? "hey, that's the coffee that i gave to you 8 years ago! it's .. unopened..!"
