i understand where youre coming from. Even though i have a good relationship with my mother, she does not seem grateful when she receives expensive gifts. Makes you regret buying expensive things in the first place like she never seems satisfied or like its something to be expected. It doesnt feel like the puts the same effort into presents for others. So yeah, its not exactly the same situation but i feel you

oh it doesnt have to be the same for u to understand! it is exactly like that too. and it could be for any family member or friend. but it does sting a bit coming from a parent. and when they ask for it, too...? yeah, just a bit of a waste. may we both take some extra thought next time they ask for a £££ gift.
