I think part of the reason is that you guys have more natural predators and less privately owned forests in your countries.

It was partially hidden by those branches, otherwise I doubt it would have been left intact long enough to decompose to this degree. 
The weather was pretty warm and rainy in the last 2 weeks tho so that definitely speeds things up.

I'm not that well informed It's just that I have been living next to a forest for half my life and after a while you start to see certain patterns.
