Nice book thread for me to ramble in (hopefully)

I keep making book threads and then go be inactive. I hope this one will stay.

I have a lot of book thoughts and thought a thread would be nice for them all to be in. It's also so I can reuse some of the pictures I've taken for my Instagram and put them to use somewhere, where they won't just have their -3 seconds of fame.

Please do ramble books with me too. I will be inactive here, but it's nice to have something to come back to.

I am currently reading:

The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden is a historical fiction set in WWI. It's very heart wrenching to follow this story, which comes around all things surrounding war specifically. I just finished a chapter with people drowning in the trenches because they're too hurt to get out of no mans land and they're just lying and screaming for help.

The Will of the Many by James Islington is more of a political story, where people can give their will to others, which in turn makes the people given will stronger etc. etc. It's very hierarchical. I like political books, and this hits a lot of the nice things in the specific trope, so it's a lovely read. It's been hyped online a lot, and until now it's lived up to expectations.

Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell won book of the year at Waterstones last year, and in general has a ton of good praise with it. (People comparing Katherine to Tolkien level praise) This is a children's book, and I like the premise of it so far. I will probably get this in Danish too so I can read it for future children, because it's that nice.

To Cage a God by Elizabeth May I've been at for... too long by now. People can trap gods in their bodies and thereby gain their powers. The premise is interesting, and it's mostly due to me being busy I haven't gotten further in it yet. I am hoping for more political intrigue as the story goes on, but I am also waiting for something to actually happen on the pages.

I am getting a new book tomorrow and I'm excited about it even though I've already read it.

I am looking through some of my book pictures to see how much shit I've actually lying around I've never used and found this pic:

and I'm honestly quite sad about never raving about this book ??? It's dark academia vibes, with people getting magic powers according to the moon cycle. The main character has survived a thing that drowned her best friend an earlier semester, and the book comes around grief in such an interesting way, while still keeping on theme and having some mystery vibes too. The worldbuilding worked really well, and everything's just perfect. I read this as an ebook and bought it online the second I was done, because I simply knew it would bring a smile to my face to have it on bookshelf and remember it. I am excited for the sequel that's coming.
