SOMEONE tell me which

to get

A golden retriever or a cream dachshund
the breeders may as well be the same so there's no difference there on what they offer/do
I know golden would be easier to train and dachshunds are more stubborn
Golden retriever is much larger so prob more money and a dachshund would be less
I've been around dachshunds before but not golden's
Goldens shed massively but dachshunds are known to bark a lot
like idk

Someone should make the decision for me lmao
Or i'm about to say none

Do you have an animal?

I'd take the Golden Retriever
I have trouble with small dogs and cannot stand when my pets bark\meow continuously at 5 in the morning

since you've been around dachshunds is it safe to assume you have some level of experience with them? imo that's a big difference since you technically already know what to expect of them outside a generic description. they've all got their own personality after all so you can't trust the dog will behave exactly like the stereotype

but also i'm not much of a dog person myself because of how much attention they need + their size, so the dachshund gets automatic bias from me. the fur is also a big factor since the golden retriever in addition to brushing would need regular baths (especially if you want to reduce the amount of shedding) which in itself is a commitment, and a full-sized bathtub is a requirement unless you want to take literal showers with the dog

you said there's ppl in your house 24/7 - how confident are you that they are willing to help with the dog?

Yeah, I almost exclusively took care of a dachshund every weekend for a year and a few weeks when it was a puppy. I'd be getting the opposite gender though and dog websites tell me it's a big difference for that breed? But also seems like the personality would be similar to a golden retriever. I just worry about their guard dog instinct and the barking which was literally the ONLY problem in the other dog or she was an angel. Although she was kinda needy and wanted to go outside every 2 seconds

Only thing is I wanted a cream dachshund bc it's basically a small version of a golden retriever bc that is the dog I really wanted originally. I do have a bath and a walk in shower. I just really worry about shedding and how my mom will react to it. Also my 0 experience even though they are supposed to be great for first time dog owners. My parents have agreed to help so they better

i mean dogs can live easily over 10 yrs so i'd get the dog i wanted rather than like a "second best" if you get what i mean dfhjsdfns

in the long term the golden is also more likely to have less health issues whereas you have to be super careful with dax's
