i had something like a medical emergency and my friend insisted on calling the emergency number. i absolutely refused. if i went to the hospital it would go in my medical records and any future doctor who treats me would be able to see what happened. apparently i think thats too embarrassing. especially if my general doctor found out.
basically i was ready to die instead of living in embarrassment?? actually i remember thinking how embarrassing it would be if i died now of this issue and my mom would find out

i'm glad ur doing better, sometimes in high stress situations our rational thinking goes out of the window, good of ur friend to insist though

very true. i was definitely not thinking straight. looking back i should probably have gone to the hospital and gotten treated. but i still have this feeling now that i dont want this in my medical records yk i feel the same anxiety now just thinking about it

oh yeah absolutely. shame can really overshadow rational thinking

i recently read about someone on reddit who fell and broke both her arms. she couldnt wipe herself and was too embarrassed to get someone to help her. her solution was simply to not poop. she made herself constipated and didnt poop for three weeks or something. her intestines ruptured and her insides got severely infected. she had her legs and entire lower abdomen amputated. all because she was embarrassed

now this was reddit after all lol so idk if its true, but the story stuck

it is stuff like that that makes me paranoid and not wanting to go get help bc this issue could haunt me later in life
like when i had a botched iq test at age 11 and scored an untrue result of 72.  which means that every health professional i have talked to since, even now at 26, brings this up. some even talk very slow and clearly to me, like i wouldnt understand otherwise. recently a doctor asked me three times in a meeting if i could follow along when i was in school. apparently she could not believe, that yes, i was always at least average in school. it made me feel like shit
stuff like this kept me from getting medical help when i had a serious emergency. isnt that just fucked up
